Fries are kind of soggy and salty. Custard is good. Burgers and chicken out of dry and overcooked. Definitely need to appreciate the nostalgia. This place has been here forever and that regards it hits all the marks.

Today was a disaster. I love this place, I really do. Me and my boyfriend have been going here for years and the staff has always been great and orders came out fast. I’m not sure if it was just the crew tonight but I spend a total of 50 minutes waiting for my order. We ordered 2 hot honey chicken sandwiches and some tots. It was 26$ and some cents. That was off. I look at the reciept and I was charged for bacon. It already comes with bacon. So the guy does a refund and we get out order 20 minutes later. While waiting, I watch the rest of the crew make 2 order mistakes. Additionally, when I got the food, the order was wrong. At that point we were already a few minutes down the road. We turn back and they remake the food, and it takes another 20 minutes. I have never seen it this bad. Also, they increased the prices of almost everything by 20-30 cents.

I had been before and was excited to go back. But this time did not impress me or make me eager to go back. It is freezing in the seating area. Other guests mentioned that as well. My food was lackluster. My burger had onion flavor but I hadn’t asked for onions. My cheese curds tasted off, like they cooked then with something that had bacon. It was not pleasant. And there were not many cheese curds and they were super greasy. I was so disappointed as I had been so excited to try them again. But the kids working there were attentive to taking orders as people came in.
Adding in a response to the manager – It took over 3 weeks for you to reply to my review. When I was there, another woman who was still in her coat mentioned to the checkout girl that it was very cold and the girl just said, “Oh, well, it’s warm back here.” As it was a Friday, that means fish fry and your workers were very busy. I do understand folks being busy, so I didn’t want to stand in a long line to talk about the food as I was on my way to a meeting and didn’t have time to wait. I am sorry you feel it is more important to chastise me for leaving a review than to respond letting me know that you will strive to do better next time and you have talked to your workers to fix the issues mentioned. I am going to assume you have talked to them and made efforts. You may want to look into kinder ways to respond to non-5 star reviews to make people feel like you do want them to come back. I see I am not the only person to receive such a response to their review. I was trying to let you know what you can improve so it can be a better experience for everyone.

Large “saucer” burgers (prepare to order), chicken and fish sandwiches. Fresh made custards and sundaes. Weekly specials.

This establishment has been around a while. Since I was a kid. Was originally an A&W I burger stand. Then became Hefners many years later.
This shop is a bit of a copy cat of Kopps Custard stand in terms of the burger size. But more burger varieties to choose from.
Certainly a local favorite. A place we have gone to for years.

We enjoyed dessert at Hefner’s! Frozen Custard is one of my specialties, having tried many places across the nation and state. Hefner’s is worthy of the name! The Hefner’s delight sundae had some honey, caramel, and pecan. It was basically a turtle sundae with honey. The Thin Mint was really good. It was thick, creamy, custardy, and minty. However, there were a lot of cookie chunks at the bottom, which made it kind of hard to suck through the straw. I think we’ll be coming back try some burgers!

I love Hefners! ❤️ Their double cheeseburgers are yummy and any onion rings, fries and shake have been great too! They are very big sandwiches, so either sharing, taking home part of it or coming with a big appetite is a must!

Why go to Culver’s when you can have a much more authentic and bigger burger! Love this old school burger and shake spot, from the exterior to the arcade games and inside it feels like the burger spots of the 80s and 90s! Burgers are big and there’s a lot of options, we enjoyed the Huge Hefner and the Cedar Burger! Huge Hefner is a play on the Big Mac and is wayyy better obviously, the cedar burger was good as well, the cheese sauce is pretty rich tho. Had the get a shake and an Oreo cookie sandwich too, boy are we glad we stopped! If your in the area, trust me, skip Culver’s and come here!

We really enjoyed our visit! Good food, adorable decor, & the best custard we’ve had in WI. We live an hour away, & I know we will be back for more. Our son loved playing the retro games, & he tried super hard to finish his burger (he came closer than expected & says it was WAY better than a Big Mac- big praise for a 9 year old Lol). The photos show his effort at taking on a burger of that size.

This place is fantastic! I hate sharing it with you because I want to keep it to myself! I have to share, however, so here it goes. The burgers are HUGE and priced so reasonable. I couldn’t decide on fries or tots and luckily I didn’t have to pick because they offer a mixed bag!! That’s right, the best of both worlds. If you like fried mushrooms, you will love the portobello mushrooms here. They are sliced thick, and in some type of batter, I don’t even know or care what it is because they were out of this world. We also got onion rings because we’re gluttons, but we did share a large soda, which was a lot. For three of us, it was just over $36! We had absolutely no room for ice cream, but we will accept the challenge at another date because everything sounds good. There is a small area with bench style window seating inside or a few picnic tables outside to eat at.

I was treated to Hefners for dinner and boy howdy was it a great burger joint! The restaurant has a pleasant clean aesthetic to it and has good quick service! The food itself is very great! I had a vanilla milkshake, order of fries and double cheeseburger woth pickles and mustard and all tasted great and filling! Try Hefners out if you’re in the area, it’s great!
