Dine in food is so so. Masala fries were basically fries with chilli powder on it. Khammam dhokla was dry. Bhel was soggy. Khandvi was spicy and low on coconut and lemon. Jalebi was dry.
The fried snacks on the other hand were a lot better. As was the theplas we got to go. Reasonably priced too.
The space does get busy. Parking is free and easier a block away from the restaurant

This is another cog in the machine that has made Pioneer lackluster and a sad set of affairs. Had not been to Pioneer in a while and was really feeling for a taste and feel of home. We ordered bail puri, khandvi, chole puri, and chai. The lack of effort and flavor was so prominent. There is no blood going to this place. Relaying on legacy laurels. We had Indias are the highest earning, successful people in the States and we need to ask more of our own. Why is it we need to go to India to get the best food on the planet. What is happening in Little India that there is such a disconnect of the most complex and delicious cuisine on Earth. You have to have elaborate wedding catering or go to a super high end world renowned Resturant in the states to get some good India Chow. Kudos to all the mom’s, Grand MAs and family who still cook with pride at home. Kaash, if we had the same passion in our Resturants so that we could share that dynamic cuisine with those who can’t get home cooked food. What an utter disappointment and failure to meet the moment.

DO NOT GO HERE, VERY BAD SERVICE AND BAD FOOD, SPECIFICALLY SUNDAYS SEEMS TO BE FORCED OPEN AND STAFF DOE NOT LIKE SERVING.
We went here on late evening of the Sunday, where they seem to be open after ordering food was worst, we order Dosa, Some veg puff, Sev khammni, extra rice for the baby, the food came out was horrible, the sambar felt like just a water without and tadaka, Dosa were horrible taste, we specifically order the rice for 1 year old, we kept on waiting till last minute and when asked the sever she told us that it shows that it was already sent, which was never sent to us, when I asked about sev Khamani first I was told by several that they must be making without checking, and when I asked again same server went and check and according to her I was missed, then they asked to make it and that was also worst of all ! I would suggest not going here, it looks like they have taken name for granted, also while we were eating the whole staff started cleaning, it’s best that the store stays closed if the team doesn’t like working on Sundays. I am sure I am not going here again and suggesting all friends and family not go here,

Worth time wait over here. 100% recommend to other people to eat. Love their sandwiches, Khandvi and khakhra pizza. Love it and good portion of money we spent.

We visited Surati Farsan after 7–8 years, expecting the same great taste, but the quality has dropped significantly.
We ordered khandvi, dhokla, pav bhaji, and dahi sev puri.
• Khandvi was tasty but served cold, which took away from the flavor.
• Dhokla tasted at least a day old — warm, but clearly not fresh, almost like it had been microwaved.
• Pav Bhaji was not good — the bhaji wasn’t blended, felt uneven, and was unnecessarily spicy.
• Dahi Sev Puri was the only dish we enjoyed.
For my son, the staff recommended the burger, and I clearly asked multiple times for it to be very mild on the spice level since it was for a 3-year-old. Even after repeating this, the burger still came spicy, and he couldn’t eat it. That was extremely disappointing and showed a lack of care.
I know Surati Farsan is known as an authentic Gujarati place, but customers expect fresh dhokla, properly prepared pav bhaji, and attention to spice levels, especially when it’s for a child.
Overall, a very poor experience.
One star. Won’t visit again, especially after this disappointing stop during our family trip to LA.

We heard a lot about this place, but it was big disappointment. No dish feels fresh. We ordered samosa though it was hot but all we tasted and smell is oil , it was feeling like they have used the oil ample of times to fry.
And for dry snack they are using food coloring.

I have been coming to this place for over 20+ years, and our family were regulars, back when the original owner was still around…it was AMAZING before…clean, fresh, made-from-scratch, simple and delicious Indian fast food, in a tiny hole in the wall.
But with his son (a most unfriendly human) taking over and Surati’s emphasis on expansion and profits (at all costs), the quality of the food has steadily gone down. Now i visit only when i am forced (like two days ago when i was reminded again of why i don’t go there).
Everything is different now… lots of artificial ingredients and food coloring, and short cuts for the food (not fresh like it used to be). And they use an insane amount of single-use plastic… even for dine-in (it used to be a very clean, eco friendly place), expect to generate a LOT of trash for each meal and there is no way around it.
NOT A LOT OF COMPETITION IN THE
MARKET unfortunately, so they can keep on keeping on.
Also they have started a bar (London’s Pub on Artesia, which has good beer, but terrible and overpriced food, few vegan options, and rude service) and have just bought out another lot on Pioneer to build something else.

Great food, wonderful place to get a good snack or lunch/dinner. Variety of sweets and savories are available along with regular food that can be ordered. Indoor and outdoor seating were available and parking nearby was quite available as well. Mango Lassi supreme was delightful, unique and a must try!

3/5/23..Our first time here, and while the cashier person wasn’t mean, he wasn’t nice. I told him it was our first time here and weren’t sure what to order- we felt rushed. This is a “in the know” you got to know what you’re getting before ordering kind of place. Everything we ordered was too spicy for us, and the flavor was bland but now I know to look at the internet menu as it has a description of menu items. The Indian iced coffee (tasted like regular ice coffee)and mango lassi was good
The very long lines move quickly and helps tremendously if you know the language or go with someone who does. As non-speaker, I felt a little out of place and was nervous ordering since I held up the line.
