I was literally taken back to my grandmother’s house along with all the warm and fuzzies that go with it. The only thing comparable to their pumpkin pancakes were those we ate when we went to San Antonio (and they were pretty famous for them.) I’m usually not a fan of bacon, preferring sausage. Though it was the opposite in this case… The cherry smoked bacon had just the perfect flavor, doneness and thickness.
What was wonderful though was the excellent service we received. We felt like we had four servers instead of one because everyone was so attentive ( but not overly attentive if you know what I mean) As a Sparksite, its a bit of a drive though I can’t wait to grab my mom and take her there. ❤️

My family and I just moved back to reno and this place still stands as my number 1 breakfast place in reno even after being gone for 3.5 years to south carolina. The atmosphere, food, and service is beyond incredible! Words cant simply explain it you just have to come try it for yourself! The country fried steak and eggs, the pancakes, the corn beef hash, down to the coffee all have love put into it! I cant wait to explore more of the menu to see how great everything else is. For the price the portion sizes are big. You can come here and spend 70-100 for a family of five and have left over for your next meal. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants food made for the soul. My family and I will keep coming to this place as long as we live in reno.

The place looks small on the outside. Most of the parking was full! When we walk in there is a nice waiting area not many waiting so we had a place to sit. We didn’t wait long . The place inside is decorated county style so cute
The food was good and my omelette had plenty of meat! Although my biscuit wasn’t fluffy maybe was not cook enough. The gravy to me didn’t taste good might have been the type of sausage they use so I didn’t eat it.
Although my spouse likes his gravy and the food! I definitely will return and try their lunch do come hungry the portions will feel you up!

This is a very adorable cafe. It is light and joyful and inside. There are many seats for guests. We tried the Mexican scramble, French toast, and waffles. Very yummy. Next time I’ll have to top it with fruit.

Nice family run operation. Country inn style interior with a good mixture of tables and booths.
Service was good and most everyone had a smile with a good morning.
The food was well prepared and fair sized proportions. The only complaint we had was the use of salt in the food. We are salt conscious and it seemed to be a little over the top. This is just our opinion and be aware that we are salt sensitive.
Year later we revisited. Food was excellent as was the service. Still a very popular place and is busy most of the time.
1/21/24. Revisit
Still popular, had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Not too bad.
Still really good family style diner.

Everything was well cook and tasted good. The meat by itself on my beef dipper was bland until I added the pickle, really brought it to life. The hash browns were rich and the fries perfectly crispy!

Original post from 3 years ago (see below for update) Amazing environment inside the restaurant. The decor is welcoming and the staff is friendly. The menu offers traditional breakfast and lunch items as well as some signature foods. The food was served hot and our cups were kept full. I would highly recommend The Cup for breakfast or lunch. We visit Reno frequently and of all the places we’ve tried, this has become a new favorite.
Update 3 years later…I reviewed The Cup Cafe 3 years ago and it was 5 stars then and it is 5 stars now. We live out of town, but this place stands out and we visit every time we’re here. Their sausage patties are made fresh and I highly recommend them. I’ve also never found another place that serves a crunchy French toast like theirs, crispy, covered with different types of chopped nuts and served with real maple syrup on the side. They just opened a second location in Reno and I can’t wait to try that spot as well. The atmosphere feels like the warmth of home while we are traveling.
