At El Vez in Fort Lauderdale, the meal began with their classic guacamole—fresh and paired with perfectly crisp house-made chips. The highlight of the evening was their specialty, the Tacos Al Carbón, featuring beautifully grilled snapper and flavorful grilled chicken presented in a molcajete (clay pot) wrapped in warm tortillas and layered with fresh, bright toppings (loved the caramelized onions)! Every bite was delicious and satisfying, making for a fresh, generous, and enjoyable dining experience…special shout out to Vivian who was an outstanding waitress and very helpful!

Average Mexican restaurant along busy fort Lauderdale strip across the street from beach. We had the nachos which had very few chips, served on rounds pizza like tin and although tasty, was just too sloppy and soggy to eat beyond the outer ring. Tortilla soup was good with chinks of chicken, cheese and avocado. Steak tacos with flavorful but not too spicy steak, fresh jalapenos, tomatoes and onions. Rice and black beans as a side as well as the watermelon salad with fresh radishes, pickled cucumber and onions was very refreshing. Service fair given restaurant was not very busy about 7pm on a Friday night. Nice ambiance with heat towers scattered throughout the patio area that overlooked the strip and the Lauderdale beach.
Update after response to review:
I received a prompt reply to my review from the GM. He was quite responsive and aplogetic about our experience with the nachos. We will return to this location and definitely give it a try again. Thanks Jeff!

Such a cool spot. Came for lunch- the nacho mama were AMAZING. If I were to go back I’d just get that to split , it was huge. Our waiter was so kind. Veggie tacos were killer too- and drinks were not syrupy which I love. 10/10!

Breakfast was a knockout — genuinely some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The huevos rancheros were to die for, and the French toast was pure comfort on a plate.
Dinner, unfortunately, felt like it came from a completely different kitchen. I walked in with high expectations after that phenomenal breakfast, and everything just fell flat. The veggie carbonara was a miss — overflowing with onions and bell peppers, plus an odd sprinkle of green onions that made the whole dish feel confused. The enchiladas were fine, but nowhere near “I’d come back for this” level.
They need to update their dinner game honestly.

What a great way to start our weekend trip to Fort Lauderdale! Everything was great- the Nacho Mama was such a cool and delicious appetizer, and the tacos (I got the Chicken Tacos) were full of flavor. Atmosphere was nice and our server was excellent. 5/5 will definitely be returning on our next trip

The food was absolutely delicious! I indulged in a large salad and some mouthwatering fish tacos. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food arrived promptly. The ambiance inside is truly special, with its Mexican decor, while the outdoor setting offers a beautiful beachfront view. I highly recommend this place for a delightful lunch experience.
We also had breakfast there, and it was equally enjoyable. However, the menu is a bit limited, as we have kids And the restaurant does not offer pancakes or waffles.

I had the burger and it was delicious. However, we expressed not wanting any chips/salsa at the start of our meal and a random server brought us chips and left them on our table. We barely touched them and they still charged us $9 for them. Their service is very poor but the food is good.

The food here is absolutely amazing easily some of the best I’ve had. Huge shoutout to the chefs because they truly delivered.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. Our waitress would disappear for 30 minutes to an hour at a time. We were there for about two hours, and I’m not exaggerating when I say we only saw her three times the entire visit.
We were a group of four adults and two kids. She only took drink and food orders from two people and completely skipped the other two at the table. I was never even asked what I wanted to drink, so I just ended up having the water that was already on the table. The food was outstanding, but the service definitely needs improvement.

Don’t order the whole snapper—it was terrible. Overcooked and bland. We let our waitress know and her response was “I’ll give the feedback to the kitchen.” Pork carnitas tacos were decent, as was the guacamole. Service was so so slow.

We had a great time at El Vez for brunch celebrating my dad’s 82nd birthday . The young Spanish lady who initially helped us was super nice and welcoming.
We stayed for about 4–5 hours enjoying drinks and appetizers at the outside bar afterward. While the atmosphere was great, the outdoor bar staff wasn’t as attentive, which is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.
We eventually moved back inside, where Alberto was amazing—very friendly, attentive, and especially kind to my family and the birthday boy. He truly made the experience memorable.
The brunch items were delicious. The bagel was the best I’ve had in a long time, and the nachos at lunch were excellent. Overall, a great place with great food, and I would definitely love to return.
