Amazing italian pastries, cookies and pies! I drove an hour to get there today to get their Italian rum cake. The zeppoli’s are amazing to enjoy on March 19 for the Feast of Saint Joseph.. Christmas time is a great time to visit when Santa’s helper give waiting visitors shots of sambuca! Love this place!!

A moldy issue – I’ve been a loyal customer here for birthdays, which is why this was especially disappointing. When I ordered the birthday cake and we went to serve it, we noticed mold on the top of the strawberries.

I did contact the shop and they refunded the order, which I appreciate. However, because the cake was for a birthday and could not be served at all, a replacement cake or additional compensation would have felt more appropriate than a refund alone.

I hope this was just a one-off issue, but it definitely took away from what should have been a special moment, and it’s made me hesitant to return.

I took decided to try Isgro bakery today because I missed the traditional Italian pastries my grandparents would serve at Christmas. I arrived at the back of the line at 10am. It was down on block and around the corner! There was a fun and festive atmosphere and comraderie amongst all those waiting. Staff constantly circulated through the line with trays of cookies and shots of amaretto or anisette! About 45 minutes later, I received my number ticket to go inside and I waited a short time inside for the customers ahead of me to get their treats and pay. The bakery was still well stocked with cookies, cakes and pastries despite having nonstop customers since they opened that morning. I chose some delicious smelling amd fresh sposfogliatella, fruit tarts loaded with fresh fruit and an almond horn. I shared these delicious treats with my mom who agreed that they were so fresh and tasty, just like the pastries we shared many years ago with my Italian family at Christmas. I will definitely be returning here to sample some more of their treats!!

A century-old Italian pastry shop ✨
Their soft cookies totally surprised me — especially the anise-flavored one, so unique!
The cheesecake is definitely worth a try, but fair warning… it’s very sweet — enjoy it one small bite at a time

We tried the key lime tart, so delicious! The staff was very friendly, easy to get in and out. No seating or anything so just takeaway.

Some of the most authentic Italian pastries in the city of Philadelphia. The Jimmy butter cookies are always fresh and the ricotta cookies are out of this world. Friendly service and overall great experience every time you step foot in the door.

Hands down the BEST cannoli I’ve ever had. And believe me, I know cannoli. I’m a connoisseur of sorts. I’ve had them in Italy, New York, Boston, and pretty much anywhere else they have them. Unless you’re on a flight to Italy, these are going to be your best bet, even then, I’d do a side by side taste test and they might actually win. So do it. Just go. Get a cannoli or three. You won’t regret it! And if you do, then sorry, you don’t know a good Italian cannoli.

This place is great but me and 2 of my friends had the tiramisu cups recently and it was really only okay, plus we all had stomache aches after… It was strangely frozen/icy textured along the bottom, didn’t have as strong of a coffee and/or liquor taste as I would like, and the had a strange texture overall in the lady fingers that wasn’t super pleasant, a bit OVERLY soggy feeling. I would assume this experience was out of the ordinary…

I’ve had the carrot cake and it was fantastic, as well as the ricotta cookies and the almond cookies and those are to die for as well… I’m not sure how you even get that kind of a texture out of making a cookie! I just had their raspberry cookie and it was pretty okay, though I wouldn’t choose it over the other two again. I really want to try the lemoncello cake sometime, it looks divine!

So my note? maybe skip the tiramisu cups if possible… But try anything else! we’re all still hurting and skipped dinner tonight because of our tummy aches.

I couldn’t resist going inside Isgro Pastries when I was in the Italian Market neighborhood in Philly. What a gem of a place. It’s a one of a kind bakery that transports you right to Italy with it’s amazing cookies and pastries. On my recent visit in early November I had some of the best cookies in my entire life from here. It’s a charming bakery with so many delightful desserts. A family run business since 1904 and an absolute gift to Philadelphia. Isgro Pastries is amazing.
