I ordered the Denver omelette with crispy hash browns and English muffin. My hunny ordered the turkey bacon ranch with soup. Service was spot on. Food was hot and tasted amazing. Service was spot on. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

Was kinda hoping for more strawberries or a sauce on my pancakes when I paid more for strawberries but I just used up all the jams on the table lol My daughter really loved the fries and I didn’t hear the hubby complain. I didn’t give a 5 due to the very few strawberries on the pancakes, never got a refill or even asked and there is only one bathroom for men’s and 1 for womens. It was a busy day so I had to wait in a line for the bathroom while wait staff tried to squeeze by me with trays, was really awkward. Hubby was hoping for more fish options since the owner is a fishing champion but overall the food was good. Also we sat at the back corner table with a video camera sitting right on the shelf faced right at me… didn’t like that

Just had an incredible lunch here with Lynda. We ordered the mushroom burger with Havarti cheese—it was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired great with the soup of the day (which was excellent). The place was busy, but we didn’t have to wait.

Best part? We met Johnny himself—super friendly guy and a local legend in the fishing world. He even shared a few fishing secrets with us as we talked about Black River and Horseshoe Lake on the reservation.

The food is top-notch, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the menu is stacked—especially the breakfast options and the fresh, homemade pies. Highly recommend stopping in. This place is a gem.

I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews. Food was okay. But the southern biscuit was soft and delicious with butter.
I was so sad with the customer service. They checked in us when they brought our food and when we were basically done. No it wasn’t packed we were there for a good 10 minutes as the only family there. We had to wave them down for more coffee after they finally walked into the dinning area because new customers walked in.

Was in Pinetop for a weekend softball tournament, and played later games, so we decided to stop in at Johnny & Dee’s Picnic Basket for breakfast or lunch. Parking may have been a challenge, but we waited for a car to pull out, and we had ourselves VIP parking.

Inside is a completely rustic country setting, and it smelled really good. The place was packed, so we gave out names and sat down, and within a few minutes we were seated. Here is the kicker – They have a downstairs area, and asked if we were good enough to handle the steps to be seated downstairs. We were good with it, and just happy we dint have to wait for 30 minutes to be seated.

The downstairs was really cool and very comfortable. We both grabbed coffee, and my wife had breakfast, while I went with the Classic Burger with American cheese, and fries. IT hit the spot, and was cooked to perfection. The food, atmosphere, and our waitress Loretta, made out first experience a hit!

We enjoyed the place so much we went back the next day for lunch / breakfast again, and had a repeat performance – Great food, excellent service and very short wait time.

We are going back to Pinetop in August, and will be stopping in for breakfast before heading home again.

If you are looking for a great place to eat, take my word, and check out Johnny & Dee’s Picnic Basket. You won’t be disappointed.

I had eggs benedict here and It was really good. The service was fast, the staff friendly, and the food good. The English Muffin used seems to be homemade and is a really nice touch. I wish I could make EM( I’ve tried) but I can’t even make sourdough bread successfully. I’ve been back since and will be in the future.

This is a cute little place. I had the parmesan grilled cheese with bacon and green chilli with their homemade potato chips for lunch. It was great. My wife had been here before and suggested it. We would definitely go back again. Sorry, no pictures! I was so hungry I forgot

We are in town on vacation and this place was recommended. Ate here twice. Food was delicious both times-i forgot to take pictures because I just wanted to dig in! Had Eggs Benedict the first visit and the corned beef hash the second. Both were delicious. The biscuits are fabulous. The pancakes are good but served with cheap nasty syrup which killed them for me. Our server was fantastic today-cute young girl running it all solo-and she was ON IT! The first visit was an older woman in a bandana and she was mediocre. Not quick to serve refills or pick up dirty dishes. So 50/50 on the service. As an interior designer of 22 years this place is a visual nightmare of hodge podge yard sale items. Not clean by any length of the imagination as the dust hangs thick on all the clutter BUT most good diners has this vibes. So take it with a grain of salt. Before I sign off I wanna say you gotta try the cinnamon rolls! Fresh-in house made and as big as your face. Delicious. You can tell the locals love this place too! Johnny, the owner, is one heck of a fisherman as his trophies adore the checkout area. The value here is good too! I’m confident we will be back!

We were warmly greeted and quickly found a table! We had water immediately by a friendly young man. Our server was equally friendly and knowledgeable about substitutions. We always had our coffee filled! There were lots of tables and booths. The space is decorated country-farm and a heavy dose of awesome old-school country! Our food was promptly delivered just as we ordered! The bacon, cheese omelet was fluffy and flavored just right! The sausage gravy was perfectly thick but not “floury” !! The chicken fried steak was a nice portion of beef with a wonderful crunchy breading. The vreadungbhad great flavor but didn’t overwhelm the beef. The toast was delicious homemade bread! Definitely can’t wait to return and try other menu items!!

7/19/24. My wife had “The Garden,” and it was excellent. I had “The Tomato Wedge Salad,” which was also excellent. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere reminds one of a Norman Rockwell painting. Enjoyable and left full. We have stayed at both hotels adjacent dozens of time, and we are sorry we did not discover this gem years ago.
Been here twice since last July.
Today 9/29/2024. My wife had the albondiga soup, authentic Mexican. It was very tasty and delicious.
10/13 have eaten here at least thirty times in last few months. The service is excellent, food has always exceeded expectations. Often see Johnny, and Dee, working to ensure all is running well. Johnny is often hustling around busing tables, greeting guests, and smiling. If I ever was to have a bad experience, I’m confident they would more than make it right, but I doubt I’ll have any bad experience, 100% delighted.
