I recently visited this restaurant, and while the food itself was actually really good, the customer service completely ruined the experience. When I walked in, the waiter just stared at us from the door like we were out of place or something… Honestly , it felt like he saw aliens. It was uncomfortable and unwelcoming a bit… Maybe he was drunk he did have a drink with him.
Then the other server came over with a weird attitude from the start. I’m not sure what was going on with him, but the energy was off the whole time. When I tried to say “thank you,” he just lifted his nose up and walked away without acknowledging me. It was strange, rude, and very unprofessional. Like what’s the deal? Overall, the food was solid, 10/10! But the service was so bad that I wouldn’t return. A restaurant should make you feel welcome, not judged or ignored. They really need to work on their customer service. Oh and the rum punch was god awful! OMG? I love rum punch! But it was bad…

Nice little spot in East NY near Gateway Center. Went for brunch on 12/29/24 a Sunday around 2:30. Was not crowded, honestly did not expect it to be. But the ambiance was nice the server and DJ were courteous. Music wasn’t too loud and could vibe out and hear the people you came with speak. Food was definitely good only thing I would say is though it didn’t come out cold but got cold pretty quickly. I had chicken and waffles, my aunt and mother ordered the fish and chips and my sister ordered the chicken soup with the southern fried chicken dish she opted for mashed potatoes instead of Mac and cheese. Food was well cooked except the fried chicken was a tad bit over cooked but had flavor and was edible. The waffles got cold on me. My sisters mashed potatoes got cold as well as she needed to finish the soup, all came out around the same time. She didn’t care the greens that came with the meal, might have been too spicy. My aunt and mother enjoyed the fish and chips, fries were cooked well and everything was seasoned well also. Had the sorrel which was a bit tart and my mom got a rum punch she said was not bad. I’d recommend if you’re in the area.

Their food is not bad. Of course. It was better when they just opened. I just think that they need to find a good promoter and start doing different themes for different days. The service is good. I will say that the food is not bad. They delivered on the oxtails this time around because I called ahead and told them please no bones or small little pieces.

Tried this carribbean themed restaurant for the first time. Located in the vicinity of the Gateway Mall, it features street parking.

The inside setup is nice and very accessible.
On this visit, the service staff was attentive and helpful.

The one page menu features drink selections on the reverse side.
They have a regular menu and a brunch menu at $45.00 that features unlimited mimosas for 1 hour.

Sampled the Fusion Sampler that had Jerk wings, callaloo spring roll,  coconut shrimp, and codfish fritters. However, they had no collaloo, so the spring rolls were filled with regular Asian spring roll vegetables.
The jerk wings were dry rubbed and a tad bit dry, the shrimp allowed for options of jerk, grilled or fried. Tried the fried, but it lacked any cocktail or tartar sauce. The provided sauces were mayo or a curry mayo that didn’t taste much like a curry mayo. The cod fritters were good.

Not sure why the feature callaloo if they don’t have it. Just calling it a vegetable spring roll would work and then it could be filled with the vegetables available for that period.

For the entree, had the Oxtail with Slow braised beef, rice & peas, collard greens, and Brown Stew chicken with chicken in brown stew, rice & peas, collard greens. The oxtails did not taste as if the meat were marinated before cooking, it had a very oily mix with the gravy on the plate. The chicken was good, but again to much oil to the gravy ratio.

As a island eatery, the addition of a good pepper sauce or hot sauce is needed. The hot sauce offering was bland and tasteless.

As for the drink options, the pairing were a bit contrary to the desired taste. Had the Rum Punch that contains Wray & Nephew white rum, Meyers rum and fruit punch. The Meyers rum on its own is over whelming as it is a dark rum with its own distinctive taste.
As for non alcoholic drinks, they feature no sugar free options except a in house lemonade.
Overall, this is a reasonable price restaurant. It’s the details of the menu and drinks that need improvement to make this a much better food establishment.

I got the fish sandwich quite a few times. It could take some salt or spice BUT Ohk. This time I went further and ordered the calamari….its dam nasty. For a Caribbean restaurant I expected better. When since Caribbean ppl started depending on sauce for flavor??? Plus the wait time was well over 1/2hr with an empty restaurant….SEASON THE DAM FOOD!!!!!!

Came with a party of 15 people after a baptism in which the restaurant was notified of days prior! ( original reservation was 25). they were NOT prepared for serve 15 guests with an EMPTY restaurant. we were given water and drinks and then had to ask the manager when would we be given the prefixed menu. we then received appetizers after 1 hour . and had to ask for plates. we arrived at 1pm, by 330 the entrees came out. french toast as hard as a rock with one side cooked with batter. burger bread hard as hell, cheese was burnt on the burgers. manager clueless telling me the food is coming. i requested immediate refund.

Food and drinks was good. Calamari portion was small but was really tasty…Seasoned good. Our waiter was nice and attentive. They don’t sub out sides though which is weird. Have to pay when you want to change the sides. Also the place have a weird smell upon entry. Lost of a star for that. Besides that everything was good. Also the food was suppose to come with collard greens and came with cabbage.
