On our trip from New York to Chicago, we decided to visit this restaurant based on a friend’s suggestion. We appreciated the open kitchen concept, and the ambiance was pleasant, although the music didn’t quite fit the atmosphere. Our server provided excellent service, no complaints there. However, we found the food to be somewhat lacking. While it was good, it didn’t quite live up to the hype we had anticipated. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Although the Fried Chicken, touted as the specialty, was fairly ordinary, we were pleasantly surprised by the Agnolotti, which was packed with flavor. Another standout was the pear salad, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, it was a decent experience, and we would still recommend it.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. Their style and decor are on point. The service was professional. The food was delicious and tasty. They have a white variety of appetizers. They also offer a tasting menu which was well picked.

The roasted duck was delicious and tasty. Their desserts were sweet, especially the Basque cheesecake.

I would definitely recommend visiting this place for dates and events.

I had been once for brunch while ago and have been meaning to come and try dinner. My husband and I finally had a chance to dine for dinner last night and we were blown away. Our waiter was excellent, he helped us navigate the menu and how much to order. We ended up with the oysters, clams, caesar and the duck. Every dish was amazing! Roister has quickly become a favorite restaurant and I am looking forward to our next visit!

Generally, the food is very good. The only downside is that it’s not a great spot for vegetarians given that most of the vegetarian options are vegetable dishes. I would think that Grant and his team could come up with some new ideas that are appealing to vegetarians that aren’t a vegetable with delicious sauces. Either way, it’s a good dining experience (and you’ll be paying Fulton Market pricing here).

Roister certainly has a unique vibe to it that’s both modern and rustic at the same time. The food was delicious and the staff brought out the plates for 2 people per dish as we had a big group. I’d say the vegetable dishes stood out the most to me, especially the cauliflower and broccoli. I’d recommend Rositer hands down and looking forward to coming back again. They have a few cocktail bars nearby to cap off your dinner.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Roister! We had a stellar dinner, made even better by a really amazing couple of seats (two bar seats separate from everyone else, directly looking into the dessert station of the completely open kitchen) and the absolutely wonderful staff.

Our servers, as well as the kitchen staff were so amazingly friendly and accommodating. I think I would get very nervous if people were looking at every little thing I’m doing all day, but the pastry chef was very passionately telling us about the intricacies of the different desserts she prepared… it was really great.

The food was fantastic. Absolutely have the cheddar rillettes, as they are stupendously good. And the chamomile chicken, the centerpiece of their menu, is worth every bit of the reputation it has.

A word of warning: the desserts are fantastic too, and they come in gigantic portions, so save some room!

Edited to add: we also tried brunch at Roister and it was similarly amazing. The patio out on Fulton is really nicely situated in the sun, and all brunch dishes were amazing. The only complaint is maybe that portions were large me it’s really hard to get through a three-course brunch because of it 🙂

Came here for my mom’s birthday a few weeks ago. Roister is owned by the Alinea Group, so we had to check it out. We had the tasting menu, so we had seats by the kitchen, and everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was perfect and staff was very accommodating and delightful.

Every dish had so many unique flavors and we loved them all! My favorites were the oysters, and beef cheek.

We were SO FULL 3/4 of the way through, but it’s true, there has to be a second stomach for desserts. I can’t begin to explain the perfection in the banana dessert. Sweet, salty, crunchy, silky, warm and cold, gooey goodness, and I’m still craving it. Can’t wait to come back.

Had a fantastic brunch here last weekend celebrating my sister’s birthday! The food was amazing, especially the truffle cinnamon roll (seriously, try it!). The only downside was feeling pressured by our waitress to add an extra tip on the bill when gratuity was already included. Otherwise, a great experience!

It was very empty for lunch but was a good casual eatery, standard American dishes! There were only a couple of choices as I assume it was very limited menu versus dinner but they were all good and we sat at the bar so could see the chefs all prepping for dinner service. I had the beef au jus and honestly it was too much food and enough for two portions for me.
