If happiness had a smell, it would be the front door of Tres Pesos Bar & Grill.
I walked in hungry. I left spiritually healed… and 97% taco.
Let’s start with what matters most: I love tacos. It’s my favorite food. Not “oh tacos are cool” love. I mean if tacos had a fan club, I’d be the president, treasurer, and head of security. And Tres Pesos? They understood the assignment like my life depended on it.
The tacos weren’t just good — they were “cancel your plans and reevaluate your priorities” good. The tortillas? Warm. The meat? Seasoned like it went to therapy and worked through its issues. The salsa? Spicy enough to make you question your choices but not your existence. Every bite felt like a hug from someone who also roasts you lovingly.
Now let’s talk dark humor for a second. I ordered “just a few tacos.” That was a lie. The table looked like I was preparing for a small fiesta or a very organized emotional breakdown. Zero regrets. If loving tacos is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I would absolutely trust Tres Pesos to cater my birthday, my retirement, and possibly my last meal request (in a totally dramatic but still positive way).
The vibe? Relaxed, welcoming, and just chaotic enough to feel alive. It’s the kind of place where you laugh loud, eat messy, and don’t judge anyone for ordering “one more round” of tacos. Or three. Hypothetically.
Service was on point. Friendly, quick, and didn’t blink when I clearly ordered like a man who hadn’t seen food in weeks. Respect.
Final verdict:
Tres Pesos Bar & Grill didn’t just serve tacos. They delivered joy wrapped in tortillas. I came for dinner. I left considering a loyalty tattoo.
If you need me, I’ll be back there… conducting very serious taco research.

Tres Peso in Charlotte is a must-visit! The langostino plate was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned, the ceviche con pulpo was incredibly fresh with the perfect balance of seafood and citrus, and the burrito was cheesy, hearty, and full of authentic taste. Portions were generous, everything felt homemade, and the staff was welcoming and attentive.
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food with amazing seafood and classic dishes, Tres Peso is the place. We’ll definitely be back!

I like experiencing new places, but let me tell you, this was an experience all by itself! Even though the parking lot was empty, I was optimistic. When we walked in, one person was at the bar. We asked for a house margarita, she said it wasn’t good frozen, which is why they didn’t sell it frozen. We selected another frozen flavor. Received it, and it tasted just like frozen ice with a hint of flavor. We told her we did not like it, and basically, she was like too bad. So, we told her to go ahead and cancel our food order. She was like they already put it down and it couldnt be canceled. Baby, please. Why would I pay for something I didn’t touch. I have never been to a restaurant with a lack of customer service. She didn’t even ask if we wanted her to remake the drink. She just said there were three shots. Again, I’ve had several drinks, and I know what three shots of anything would do to me. I paid the bill for those water down drinks and left. No wonder the parking lot was empty. I’ll never do it again. They only received one star because I had to select something to leave a review. Poor, poor service.

Good food and flavor. Typical Mexican atmosphere and decor with good service. Many vehicles arrived but at the time I visited the restaurant the cars belonged to employees and they were all in the main parking line. Another observation was that since there were not many diners to serve, the employees were making jokes and laughing uncontrollably

GREAT authentic Mexican food was absolutely amazing. Upon being seated my sister and I struggled to understand our waitress, but she immediately went to get someone who was more bilingual than she and immediately our order was taken and food served hot and expeditiously. This was our first time eating here and we will definitely eat here again. We are so appreciative of the patience that BOTH waitresses had with us in understanding some items on their menu and making substitutions in our meals. The food was so good, the restaurant was clean and there was a variety of Mexican food selections. Eat here at least once YOU MUST!

It’s amazing how they keep up the high quality delicious food for all this years. I love the ACP (Arroz con Pollo)
Sadly the restaurant surrounding’s are very sketchy with many homeless people walking around.

This is an amazing restaurant. The layout is different when you walk in. Once you sit down you understand why it WORKS. There is a lot of space and clear separation. This allows a great time for all types of diners. Groups and individuals can enjoy a great meal in privacy. The decor is beautiful! The staff is so pleasant and kind. They are friendly and welcoming, making you feel like family. The best part is the food. Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! I have never had more tender and flavorful chicken. The vegetables tasted like they were fresh out of the garden and made to order. This is my new spot for an authentic meal!

I went there for years before covid. Sadly the prices are more expensive, the food is less flavorful, and they appear to be understaffed. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

When I arrived, there were only a couple cars in the parking lot. Inside there was one table occupied and people at the bar. The first waitress came and it took 10 minutes for her to get me a glass of water. Another waitress cane to take my order 30 minutes later, only the sides had been brought out and after waiting until they were cold, I finally ate
Because my meal still had not been brought out. The waitress came to check if I needed another water and at that point I was about to walk out.
I should have left earlier and the empty parking lot should have been a clue.
5 minutes later food came, after I had been in the restaurant for an hour and two other tables had come and left. When my food came I told the waitress I didn’t want it and i walked out.
The sides of rice and beans were tasteless and the rice was hard and old.
Never again. A horrible experience.
Is it possible to give negative stars out of 5?

Great dining Mexican experience for sure. Decorated very well, polite and professional staff that welcomed us and our questions. Our meals were very good. My only request is add Avocado slices to the grilled chicken salad to make it completely delectable.
