My wife and I shared the two meats platter, which was plenty, including two sides. She got the pulled chicken and I got the burnt end. The burnt end was so good. I had the brisket last time and the Cuban the time before that. Haven’t had any disappointment yet. I’m not a fan of pulled pork nor pulled chicken, but my wife said the pulled chicken was excellent. The burnt ends were so tender that I didn’t need a knife to cut it. They had 3 different kinds of BBQ sauce, Sweet, Spicy Pineapple and Spicy Blueberry. Plus White Horseradish. Spicy Pineapple was my favorite. Food came out fast. Ordered at the counter and it’s self serve. The sides we got were baked potato casserole and green beans. The casserole was sooooo good. Highly recommended.

Got the 3 meat platter.
The jalapeno cheddar sausage was great. Brisket was a little dry and both brisket and sliced.Turkey had too much liquid smoke flavor other than that.Everything was great

Passing through the area, I thought I’d get some regional barbecue. Heavy Smoke had a decent rating, so I tried it out. I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the one meat plate with burnt ends, mac and cheese, and seasoned tater tots. I specifically ordered the tater tots hoping to have something to munch on on my drive home before having the rest of the meal once I made it home.

Everything came out really fast which wasn’t the best impression to start with. Before I could get to my car and open the container of tater tots, they were lukewarm and hard. I ate a few because I was hungry, but threw the rest away as soon as I got home.

The Mac and cheese was tasty but the best part of the meal was the smokey apple barbecue sauce. It is absolutely delicious.

The meat I ordered was definitely NOT burnt ends from ribs. Whatever the meat was that they sold as burnt ends was clearly cooked in some way other than on a grilled over an open flame and drenched in barbecue sauce. I’m not used to my barbeque being drenched in sauce…if grilled with any sauce at all…so that really turned me off as well.

Overall the meal wasn’t terrible, but I feel disappointed that I didn’t have a good barbecue experience in the St. Louis area.

Solid BBQ. Quick and friendly service. A number of tasty sauces to choose from. Enjoyed the burnt ends and brisket. All the sides were delicious. Can’t really go wrong.

Employees and atmosphere are very nice. Food arrived quickly. The recommendations for the beans and potato casserole were both solid, but I’m sure we both care most about the barbecue.

The brisket is pale, gray, and limp. It’s thin cut lean brisket showing no signs of smoke, no bark, and very little flavor. It’s a step up from sliced roast beef lunch meat. Barely. 3/10

The sausage was flavorful but dry. I expected a stiffer casing and a moist interior but it all had roughly the same strange texture. 5/10

The ribs were the best of the three meats, but they’re still diminutive and slightly greasy. The meat vs fat ratio is off. The rub is good but there’s just not enough rib meat. 7/10.

This place came highly reviewed on Reddit as the best in St Louis. This place has supposedly won world championships for BBQ. Their employees said the ribs, brisket, and sausage are some of their most popular items.

As someone passing through in can’t help but be disappointed. I don’t have local recommendations, but look up Country Tavern in Kilgore TX for examples of brisket, ribs, and BBQ. Shout out to Stanley’s BBQ in Tyler, or even chains like Hard 8 in the DFW metroplex. There’s no comparison. It’s not even close. I’ll keep searching for decent BBQ north of Oklahoma. Maybe I’ll never find it.

First off we decided to take a last minute trip too STL, we found a nice hotel in St Peter’s and looked at the area and saw that Heavy Smoke BBQ was close so we ventured in and it wasn’t too busy.

We waited about less than 10 minutes and the menu was big enough to see what we could pick out before we got to the counter.

Me and the wife got the 2 plate and 3 plate just to have a variety, I also got the 3 brisket egg rolls.

Overall the food was pretty decent, maybe it was an off day for the kitchen, the brisket wasn’t great and kinda dry and everything seemed luke warm. I really enjoyed the egg rolls they were probably the best thing we got. I did enjoy the loaded potato salad but the ribs weren’t the greatest. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was good.

Like I said maybe they had an off day the sauce bottles which were sweet, spicy blueberry, apple and the horseradish was good. We didn’t try any sandwiches or any other side besides tots, beans and Mac.

If youre local or traveling id definitely give this place a try you could totally have a different experience than us.

I also would like to add that upon arrival you get a great smell of Smoke from the outside pits which I liked a lot. Also the amount of awards this place holds is outstanding.

I had the pleasure of visiting Heavy Smoke Barbecue during my most recent trip to Missouri. As a native Texan, it was very difficult for me to admit Missouri barbecue is serious competition. The good news for me was I was not a judge and got to simply enjoy some great food. Should you ever find yourself in Saint Peter’s Missouri or even within a reasonable drive I would absolutely recommend stopping by for their burnt ends, ribs, sausage, and incredible sides. I genuinely can’t wait for my next opportunity to try even more items on their menu.

Stopped by to get some St Louis barbecue. Was Glad I did! The pulled pork was some of the most tender I have ever had. The sauces were good with some original flavors. The ribs were tender and tasty even without sauce. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

The food was good. The atmosphere nice. Very spacious dining area and clean. The staff were professional and nice. I will for sure go back.

I will say, if you enjoy burnt ends and brisket, get there early because I got there later in the day, and they were out of it unfortunately.

Staff was very friendly! Prices were fair. However, the brisket was extremely dry. It seems like they spray it with water before serving it to try and help but it didn’t 🙁 the mac and cheese was awesome! Recommend that! Also, the smoky apple sauce was good. The sweet sauce didn’t have enough flavor and the spicy blueberry lacked spice and blueberry flavor. I’m hoping it was an off day. I would go back and try it again because the mac & cheese was that good!
