Apparently, mashed potato pizza is a thing in the Brantford, CT area—and I had no idea! I stopped by Portofino Pizza to introduce the wines I import and couldn’t help but notice a huge sign advertising their mashed potato pizza. I’d never tried anything like that before.
The young gentleman working there was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain how the pizza is made, what toppings it includes, and why it’s so popular. He was so pleasant and passionate that I couldn’t resist ordering one to go—even though I had already eaten dinner.
When I saw the pizza, it looked so good that I had to try a slice right away. I’m so glad I did because it was absolutely incredible—the best pizza I’ve ever had. I would gladly drive an hour just to come back for this pizza again.

Best garlic knots around! Wish I took a picture but they disappeared before I could take my phone out. Love that they’re bite sized! Pizza is best around!

Their pizza is some of the BEST I’ve ever eaten. The dine-in space seems a bit less inviting, however I’ve always gotten carry out, so my impressions are based off of a handful of minutes over the years.

The Best New Haven style pizza in Madison. Great stuffed breads. Always friendly service. Weekends can be an hour+ wait, so order early. Only 2 tables inside after c19 & they’re usually empty. They deliver & carry Foxon Park soda.

Cant say enough great things about Portofino’s . Had a large order and tried 8 different specialty pizzas there wasn’t one I didn’t love , our party raved about the pizza as well, staff was fantastic, easy to order was ready when needed, taste great! Even accommodated me with a large salad for party. Everything was priced right. This will be our new take out spot once we are moved into the area! My family has been ordering from here at least twice a month since we moved to the area 4 years ago, never been disappointed. Our house favorites are the Yankee Clipper and the Portofino, and whatever your stance is on pineapple on pizza, grab a small Hawaiian with your order and let the fellas do their thing with the crust.
I also run my Ooni pizza oven at home pretty often and these guys are great about selling me dough when I don’t have time to make my own.

I had already had it on my list to give these guys a good review and then they delivered again in a big way today! Just got to try their pasta Alfredo with chicken (after another restaurant forgot our order) and it was delicious. We already love so many of their pizzas and their use oh high quality ingredients!!! Also after a slight mixup last time (it wasn’t even their fault, I had misunderstood an item), they sent the delivery driver back out to deliver an extra item. Thank you for your great service and great food. We are loyal customers.

I’ve used Portofino’s catering for a couple different events. Everyone LOVED the chicken dishes and the lasagnas but the biggest hit was the amazing garlic knots!!! The owners and staff are always courteous and polite. They even took the time to review my order and asked about my guests to make sure I was not over ordering. Just the best food and people!!
