Ate lunch here on a fall Monday afternoon (right after 12:00). The place was full and busy. Made our way to the counter to order. The food and service were great. We had the Dagwood sandwich, broccoli cheddar soup, and the albacore tuna melt. It was all quite tasty. They also have smoothies, salads, and breakfast all day. The only problem was finding a table. There is outdoor seating on the sidewalk out front. Definitely recommend you try it for lunch our dinner. We came back later and my wife had iced chai and said it was delicious. Regionally-sourced food is used.

Incredible bagels, especially the cheddar jalapeno as an egg sandwich ✨ they are not overly toasted and the bagels are not bland on their own. There are many healthy options available for any time of day, as well as grab-and-go goodies. I’m not a fan of the smoothies but this is one of my favorite places to frequent downtown.

Say you’re on your way back to Northern Maine from a holiday visit and you need somewhere to grab lunch and a mocha, what do you do!? Obviously you stop at the Works because not only was the mocha rich and delicious, they serve like 8 kinds of mac and cheese!? The lox bagel even had capers and everything. 10/10 for cozy vibes taking advantage of the classic New England brick interior. And all dishes were compostable, I cannot come up with a single suggestion for improvement.

This was my first visit, and I want to start by saying the place itself is lovely — the space, the atmosphere, and the overall concept are really appealing. Unfortunately, the service fell short and took away from what could have been a great experience.
I didn’t hear my name called and, after waiting quite a while, I went to check on my order. My meal for three people had been sitting there. There was no tray provided, no silverware, and no napkins, which meant I had to make multiple trips just to gather everything we needed.
There were several people behind the counter, yet no one was clearing tables or checking on orders. It felt disorganized and disconnected. I also regretted tipping upfront, given the lack of service throughout the experience.
The tomato basil soup was watery and needed in need of some crackers. When my daughter asked about it, she was told bread was available — but only if you specifically ask. That wasn’t communicated at the time of ordering. They did give her a piece of bread.
Lastly, the person taking my order was clearly new and struggling with the register. While I completely understand training takes time, there didn’t seem to be adequate support in place to help them or to keep things running smoothly. I do want to indicate my daughter had an incredible bagel egg sandwich with many extras. Tye Bagel had everything on it and was fantastic. I had ordered a half tuna melt with that soup. The sandwich was wonderful with the sourdough crusty bread. My granddaughter had a healthy juice combination she enjoyed. We also had the macaroni and cheese. The person taking the order did ask if we wanted breadcrumbs on it and it added a nice touch.
I’m sharing this in hopes that management sees it and takes it as constructive feedback. The potential here is absolutely there — with better organization, communication, and attention to service, this could have been a wonderful experience.

I had a really disappointing experience at The Works in Concord, NH. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel, and when I got it, there was no sausage and no cheese just egg and bagel. It was a simple order, and they completely missed the mark. For a first-time visit, this left a bad impression. Unfortunately, it’ll also be my last. With so many great breakfast spots around, there’s no reason to go back somewhere that can’t get a basic order right. Definitely not worth the stop.

My friend and I ate here today. We both ordered the sunrise grilled burrito. Hers did not come with avocado or pico de gallo. Mine was missing bacon and neither of them had sweet potato. Same check so not sure how so much went missing and were made so different. They were served cold and slapped together. I had the impression these were hot food items. Literally a cold chunk of cheese. The latte was luke warm at best. They were not super busy but the staff were obviously completely miserable. I think the ingredients are good and the food could be good if only the staff cared enough. Won’t be back which is unfortunate because I was really excited for the menu. We should have gone down the street. I have no idea how this place has a 4.6 rating.

We visited this place a couple of times and cannot recommend more. Everything we tried was great. The ambience of the place and the fact that they source their ingredients from local vendors is cool. We had veggie burrito, chicken broccoli pesto Mac and cheese and paninis, everything was fresh and yummy. Their smoothies are amazing, no added sugars which is a healthy option. We tried their hot chocolate too which was pretty decent. I would definitely recommend this place.

Much to offer, The Works Café does. A hidden gem for those seeking nourishment, it is. A sausage, egg, and cheese upon a jalapeño bagel, I did order. Spicy, yet balanced. Savory, yet satisfying. A wise choice, indeed.
Variety, the menu holds—bagels, smoothies, bowls, sandwiches, salads, and more. Whatever fuel your journey requires, here, found it shall be. Swift, the service was. Friendly, the staff remains. Reasonable, the price stood.
Impatient, a Jedi is not—but skip the line, one can, through online ordering. Delivered to your starship via DoorDash, the meal may also be. Convenient, this is.
Return, I shall. For in this café, the Force flows strong… and so does the coffee.

We happened to walk by and saw that it was packed. I looked up the reviews before entering, they were great. The interior was trendy, rustic, and industrial. There were seats outside and inside. There was a line but it moved quickly. I didn’t realize it’s a chain of about 11 locations in NH, MA, ME, NY, and VT. This cafe started in Manchester, VT in 1988. They’re environmentally conscious and provide fresh food/drinks using local suppliers. Not only do they offer good food/drinks, they are a good company that is for the environment; I am for that.
I had an iced latte and the Sunrise burrito. The burrito had eggs, quinoa, avocado, bacon, sweet potato, VT cheddar, and pico de Gallo. This was so good! One of the best burritos I’ve had in a long time. The service was friendly and fast. I wish we had this place near us! I would be there weekly lol.
