The Lookout Roadhouse is a true institution, and I’m so grateful it survived the Covid shutdowns that claimed so many beloved spots. The food is consistently great and reasonably priced, but the real star is the view. It feels almost surreal, like you’re perched in the sky looking out over the world. It’s the closest you’ll get to feeling like an eagle in flight. A must-visit.

If you are looking for fast, then do not go here. If you are looking for quality, atmosphere and experience, this place is for you. Gorgeous and still has the homemade flavor and perfection you want. Worth the drive and wait. When you do go, be weary there is only a porta-potty. So bring something to wash up and be prepared however you do for that. Also bring a camera as the scenery/view is just absolutely stunning! Perfect for those special moment photography sessions. Please be kind to the business and building. It’s been there for many years and survived many fires. It’s become a local landmark.

I’m so disappointed after visiting because I was genuinely so excited to come here . I had planned for months to come. I always said I wanted to go to that restaurant up the hill!
I’m not gonna sit here and complain about the time it took for our food to get to the table it did take over 1 hour from the time of ordering though. (people get busy and that’s fine)
But I will Definitely speak up about how we were horribly attended. The older lady with short white hair came to our table after 30 minutes of sitting to take our orders, I started ordering and with any question I would ask her about the plate she would respond without even letting me finish first and say “ Did you look at the menu” . And I would say yes I looked at the menu but I’m wondering if it comes with .. or can we add *** and she would say again over and over (DID YOU LOOK AT THE MENU) … for anything I would ask .. that was her response…. At this point I was like okkkkkk….. like she wanted us to just hurry up after us sitting there patiently waiting for over 30 minutes… we weren’t complaint or being rude so why was she ??
Towards the end of our meal my kids wanted to use the restroom… (they do not have restrooms inside they have porta potty’s outside that are absolutely disgusting ..no toilet seat covers or toilet paper! A man coming out offered to lend us wipes. NO SINK ON SIGHT FOR CUSTOMERS !! ☣️⚠️☢️
We go back inside and we ask for a sink the same lady says “sorry we don’t have a sink” buttt I can give you a wipe…… over 90$ bill we were there over 2 hours mainly waiting for our food … & you have no sink? or actual restroom ??? This is the most disgusting thing ever. 0 Stars !

This place is definitely a place to stop and rest and take in the views.
The inside is really cozy and the staff are extremely welcoming and hospitable.
I tried the sandwich of the day and wasn’t too impressed by it, but I think I will check the menu again.

Wow is really all I have to say! From the incredible view to the warmest greeting I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Dining here was a complete joy, and driving here was so much fun! If you’re anywhere near here and miss this place, shame on you!

Amazing food and an incredible view!! A real rustic stop to make any day an adventure.

Everything is wonderful here, with the most friendly people! Do be warned that if you come here during the breakfast or lunch rush, it can take time to get your order in! Expect to rest here for at least an hour, so don’t fret too much!

I’d highly recommend the berry pie, and the country breakfast with ribs!!

The Lookout Roadhouse is truly one of those rare finds that makes you want to come back again and again. Nestled atop a scenic overlook with panoramic views of Lake Elsinore and the surrounding valleys, this spot offers the perfect blend of natural beauty and delicious comfort food. We ordered the charcuterie plate and were blown away—not only was it beautifully arranged, but the quality of the meats, cheeses, fruits, and dips was outstanding. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with a cold beer on a sunny day. The pepper jack, Babybel, Manchego-style cheese, and salami were especially satisfying, and the fresh fruit and veggie sides balanced it all out wonderfully. The outdoor patio seating made the experience even more magical. Sipping a cold brew while soaking in the fresh mountain air and jaw-dropping views of the lake and surrounding mountains was the highlight of our day. It felt like a mini getaway without going far. Service was friendly, fast, and laid-back—exactly what you’d hope for in a place like this.If you’re ever near Lake Elsinore, do yourself a favor and stop by The Lookout Roadhouse. Whether you’re in for a casual bite, a scenic beer, or a memorable date spot, this place delivers. Highly recommended!

Incredible service, good food, very cozy and historical vibe, beautiful views. Learned this place has been around since the 40s and current owners are only 2nd owners since the 60s. So cool…
