It’s definitely a great place to visit, everything was clean and service was one point. When we went there it was super busy so we did the buffet and the salad bar and the beer was ice cold. If you are new to town definitely go.

LOVE THIS PLACE! My daughter and I were looking for homes in the area (we are from Cumberland, about an hour from Hagerstown) and stumbled upon Willie & Red’s. Swore we’d be back, and by golly, we made the hour drive the following week! Atmosphere cannot be adequately described; homey, decorative, warm, inviting, “country.”
Service is stellar and the food deserves 10 chef’s kisses~~~delicious, and a huge variety of savory and sweet yummies. Don’t skip the boiled turnips, mmmm mmmm good!

We were bored and looking for somewhere unusual to go to dinner. That’s when we remembered a great little smorgasboard we had visited years ago in Haggerstown. We confirmed it was still open and hit the highway. “Willie and Red’s” was worth the hour plus drive from Indy’s southside. Despite Haggerstown experiencing (another) water main break the staff welcomed us in and gave us a wonderful experience. The food was awesome and there was plenty of it! Salad bar was wonderful and desserts were plentiful. Best part was the server who stuck around after the watermain break to see to it we didn’t make the drive for nothing. She was a delight! She gave us great service and a very high quality history lesson about the restaurant. We’ll definately make the drive again!

Food was outstanding. Portions were huge. Service was very slow but enjoyed the meal. Hard to find chicken livers these days, and theirs were exceptional.

DELICIOUS! You want to eat here. Service was top notch, never had to ask for a refill or had a plate linger dirty on the table. Friendly and welcoming staff, they make you feel like you belong.
The food was SO good!
Son ordered off menu and 2 of us had the smorgasbord. Baby back ribs were fall-apart tender and well flavored. Portions were large, great value for what was served. Thin sliced prime rib, cream of onion soup, fried chicken and Mac and cheese were my favorites! Wish we lived closer. If you are driving I-70 in Indiana, the 7 minute detour was the best decision for a fabulous meal.

The food was plain and simple and not enough options. I went to Der Dutchman a week before coming to Willie & Red’s. Only to find out they both serve the same exact menu!

I’m very unimpressed with the offerings and the fact I drove 1 hour 30 minutes to get here.

I also saw some people with terrible hygiene. People would come out of the restroom stall and just leave without washing their hands. Very disgusting.

I have been told about this place for years. This place has changed names to “Willie and Reds”. Never got over there until today. I did notice that they have a cheese and crackers at the entrance to snack on if you were waiting. That is excellent. We had a very nice waitress and she came back by often and kept the dirty dishes cleared off the table.
The buffet was larger than most I have ever seen. A large variety of foods to choose from. (They also have menus if you wish to order from them.) The salad was very fresh, except missing mushrooms, fresh broccoli, and a couple others. They had for meats ham, chicken, fish, chicken livers, shrimp, beef, meatballs. This was awesome. They had an excellent selection of vegetables to choose from as well. I do have to note that the vegetables could have been a little hotter. They had very fresh rolls. They also have a very nice dessert bar to choose from. Including some sugar free pies.

This is the perfect place to eat if you’re a diabetic or you like nursing home food because there is no seasoning on anything. I had to add salt to my salt. All jokes aside, it’s a nice place. But the food was garbage for $61. It’s garbage.n Should a winter Golden Corral, at least I know I’m getting garbage. There will not come back until I’m 70.

Willie and Red’s is one of my all-time favorite buffets! Every side dish and every protein, whether it’s meat, poultry or seafood, is superb. All of the food is homemade with great attention to quality and detail. Some of my personal favorites are the creamy mac and cheese, the scalloped cabbage and the fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy. I also love the fork tender roast beef and crispy fried chicken. And don’t forget to try the cream of onion soup and rich butterscotch pie! With the pandemic, their servers will get the food for you, so no worries about sanitation. This is definitely worth the drive to Hagerstown!

I want to LOVE Willy and Red’s the nostalgia and history of the place alone is fantastic! However, I will speak of the buffet only since that’s all I ate.

The plus side there is a great selection of hot and cold items on the buffet and the dessert selection is fantastic!

However, the hot side of the buffet unfortunately most of the items are tasteless. The buffet is hot and appealing but lacks salt and pepper as just the basics let alone any other spices. It really is too bad.

I realize that buffets cater to a certain crowd of folks that may not like the extra spice or herbs in their food and I’m OK with that but to not even have the basics just isn’t enough to want me to come back.

Now we will go back and order off of the menu to see if there is a difference but the buffet for me is out for now.
