Good to try!
He apologized for the delay and said they were just getting started, like there was a van parked in front and they were delivering in crates.
There was also a man who came in who must have made his order online who also had to wait.
Meanwhile, the restaurant has so many tables and chairs and even has an extra private room off to the side, so it must get busy…just not right when they open on a Saturday morning.
All this made me think that this restaurant is busier around dinner time.
Nevertheless, when the food came it was beautifully presented and tasted good. I was happy with the vegetarian selections.
For the drinks, we wanted to be adventurous and try something we had never heard of before called dough laban. There were other exotic drinks we also wanted to try that I had to Google just to know what they were and looked like, but were told they weren’t available yet, which again, makes me think this place is more lively in the evenings.
Anyway, dough laban is a yogurt drink and we chose mint flavored expecting it to taste like melted mint ice cream. Instead, it was SO SOUR! Like I checked the date to make sure it wasn’t expired, which it wasn’t.
I ended up ordering a glass of soda and a glass of water to drink instead, and was surprised to see only after I had paid that I wasn’t charged for the soda. Maybe because the waiter was being nice and felt bad we were surprised by the sour drink and didn’t like it?
I still took the 2 bottles home since I did pay for them. I’m hoping to find a recipe online that I can cook them into to cut the sourness, maybe a sugary dessert or something.
That same waiter, who seemed to be the only one working that early, was also good about checking in on us even though he was already helping bring crates in, working the phone, and getting our orders and whatever other little things we asked for. I appreciate the hustle.
The restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated. There’s a mural on the back wall that looks like Santorini, Greece, the hanging lights and interior windows have intricate designs, and the bathroom doors even have cute Middle Eastern looking cartoon characters.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but maybe come at 11:30 or noon instead even if they say they open at 11 or better yet, come for dinner which is when I think they’re actually truly up and running.
10/10 will definitely be coming back!!
