Back in 1987 we needed a place to go. A place to drink good coffee and watch the world go by. A place where good food was homemade and where the desserts were fresh. We decided to buy and renovate a derelict building on old Route 66 in Nob Hill. Along the way we started a scratch bakery, cooked a lot of good food, learned to roast coffee beans and got so busy that we had to build more cafes. Today, despite a few more locations, a name change, and 350 more employees, we are still a small, local company that serves up community from scratch every day.

The worse I have had in Albuquerque. Pancakes undercook (see pic. That’s not butter….) server rude (white female), food super expensive, 70 bucks to feed a family of 4 with two kids meals. No cocktails, nothing extra, nothing fancy. Only thing I could say positive about this restaurant was this guy who was working with the rude host, (Hispanic young male) he had a green shirt on with Hunt on the back, a jersey shirt, he was super nice, if he just ran the host spot I think it would had been better…. Other than that, pass on this place…

Mac & cheese with broccoli was delicious. Everything on the menu looked incredible and I got the carrot cake to go, it was also a 10 out of 10! Would recommend as a road trip stop.

Flying Star is my top five favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. The food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is bright and inviting. Visiting town, we were craving Fly Star.
On our first visit, we ordered the pot pie, chicken couscous, and Waldorf salad with chicken. Our kids loved their grilled cheese and chicken tenders, which were clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Our eight year old eats like a man, so the kid chicken tender plate is more fitting for a six year old or younger.
On our second visit, we tried some new dishes and were equally impressed. The dessert is some of the best in town!

I ordered two breakfast biscuit sandwich’s with bacon, it was almost inedible. The biscuit was hard and fell apart immediately. The egg was cold as if it was frozen and microwaved and for a large sandwich it had one slice of bacon which was burnt but I asked replacement and my request was honored with perfect bacon.
I also ordered a caramel Dulce coffee which was great and the fabulous French toast was yummy but the bottom was burnt. The breakfast potatoes were good. I spent $50. That’s too much money to waste on a sub par breakfast. I am disappointed.

yummy home style food. pretty easy to get into, they had lots of space for parties of various sides. they do order at counter and then bring out the food. We had breakfast and the plates were large and filling. The pancakes and oatmeal were both great, as well as the kids Mac and cheese. my suegro had praline toffee bread budding that was amazing. everyone was very polite. love it and can’t wait to come back.

Wanted to try something new, heard good things about this place. Ordered the baby cakes, a side of biscuit and gravy, and a chocolate milk. Total came out to 18 dollars which is RIDICULOUS. The girl with the red braids didn’t have the best attitude either. She gave me a number for my order and I went to sit down to wait. She came and brought me my chocolate milk, put it in front of me and threw the straw down and walked away. I sat there waiting and I finally got up myself and grabbed my own order which was just sitting there on the counter. Got to my car, and the 9 dollar pancakes were tiny, the biscuit I got was a hot mess and burned. Im NOT accepting that for almost 20 dollars. I went back inside and asked the same girl for the manager, to which she looked annoyed and went to find her. She came and asked what was wrong, to which I replied I wasn’t happy with my food and I wanted a refund. She was kind about it and gave me my refund.
Im pretty disappointed with the whole thing. I understand eating out has gotten expensive but please so for real……9 dollars for some kids cakes? A bit much. I won’t be coming back or recommending this place.

Picked up a to-go order from Flying Star Cafe and was disappointed. The food wasn’t bland, but it was poorly prepared and not worth the price.

I requested in my notes please don’t burn my Buddha bowl again like you have been in the past and this damn location keeps freaking burning and serving me a twenty dollar meal. Ridiculous. I thought they’d iron it out and fix this by now.

We tried Huevos Rancheros and breakfast burritos, loved both. The staff is very kind and helpful. I had the mountain view while having my breakfast which was amazing. The outdoor seating looks very nice as well. We will be back.

No matter what you choose, the food is always excellent. The chicken Mediterranean salad is one of my favorites. Portions are substantial. Service is great!
