Triple-A Diner Restaurant: Classic East Hartford Diner with Friendly …
Reviews
This wasn’t just a bad experience — it felt like I accidentally walked onto the set of a low-budget horror film.
My girlfriend and I came in late, expecting a basic meal from a 24-hour restaurant. What we got instead felt like something out of a nightmare. The place was nearly empty, eerily quiet, and the energy was… off. Not just bad service — suspiciously off. Like we weren’t supposed to be there.
We tried ordering food, but nothing was available. My girlfriend had to change her order five separate times before we gave up and just asked, “Is the kitchen even operating?” It genuinely felt like they were using the kitchen for something other than food. The vibe was that unsettling. At one point we even joked, “Are we about to be abducted?” But the longer we stayed, the less it felt like a joke.
Our waitress was clearly not well — glassy eyes, completely zoned out, mumbling responses, and moving in slow, robotic ways. It was like serving tables was the least of her concerns. I don’t know what she was on, but no sober staff should ever behave like that. I felt genuinely uncomfortable being in the building.
Then came the “steak” — and I use that word lightly. What I was served was a grey, rubbery chunk of meat that looked like it had been cooked in a microwave powered by regret. It had an off smell, a sickly color, and a texture I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I took two bites and stopped — I’ve never had a steak make me feel like I was about to get food poisoning on the spot.
The “spaghetti” was no better. Tasting like it came out of a chef boy ardee can. They just do not care to serve edible food.
There’s a difference between a bad diner and a place that feels like it’s being run out of a front. This was the latter. No food available. No competent staff. No safe feeling.
I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes here — but it’s not just bad business. It’s deeply concerning. Do not go here. Especially not at night.
JUST MAKE IT TO NEW YORK CHICKEN AND GRILL BEFORE THEY CLOSE & NEVER EVER COME BACK TO TRIPLE A DINER. FIND A DENNYS IF YOU HAVE TO THIS PLACE IS NOT IT! JUST DISGUSTING
and fantastic food at great prices. Cash only but there’s an atm inside and a Webster and Chase ATM 0.2 miles away for fee free withdrawal. Would definitely return next time in Hartford.
The food is fine, what you would expect. Nothing amazing by any means, but not bad. Average.
Waitstaff will basically ignore you, you need to work hard if you want a coffee refill.
They play a weird variety of mostly horrible but some tolerable music over a speaker system set about 30 decibels too loud.
If you need to go to the bathroom, I hope you don’t value privacy! There is no door knob and no latch / lock on the bathroom door and it is for 1 person, not stalls in there.
Speaking of the bathroom, they have watered down soap in the soap dispenser, really not hygienic.
Oh, and they will make sure to wait until after you are completely done with your meal and they bring you the bill to inform you that it is cash only. In 2025. Who even carries cash these days? But don’t worry, you can pay a surcharge to use their atm. Nothing like extra fees to eat mediocre food in a mediocre environment.
To top it all off, they are one of many restaurants in our state that does the math for you on the bill for tip amounts and does what should be illegal, yet is still somehow legal in this state, and they multiply on top of the tax for that amount. Shady as hell.
We went there for breakfast on a weekend for breakfast as there were no option downtown. The place looks a bit outdated. The service was very prompt and friendly. The food was very good: everything was prepared carefully and tasted great.
Okay, so I get a glass of OJ(standard size I guess) which was fine for me. I also ordered a sausage, bacon and cheese on a plain bagel… NOTHING ELSE, and the bill came to $15.70
I only got back $2.30… so with that I just walked out with my change. ✌️I wont be going back there ever
