Fresh delicious Barbacoa tacos!
Everything was really good.
The tacos are small and I started out with 4, I saw a previous comment that the salsa was not fresh so I tasted everything individually, both red and green salsa are fresh, the red has a good kick to it and it’s really spicy by itself, but it’s in a taco, It adds a nice flavor.
Barbacoa is fresh, the onions and cilantro are also fresh.
I ended up ordering 4 more tacos for a total of 8.

This place looks like an old diner but serves up the craziest barbacoa tacos with consume. The flavor is so rich and deep. The tacos are a bit smaller so make sure you get twice as many you would for bigger tacos. The red salsa is also the bomb. I don’t know how one would not like this place. This is the best barbacoa I have made outside of Mexico.

Tacos the size of a female thumb. No consume served with my tacos, even though that is what I ordered. Meat was dry and lacked flavor. Decent service and salsa bar. Atmosphere is really bad. Reeks of fabuloso, to the point that you can’t taste your food and music was overly loud and obnoxious. They shut down multiple sections at 2 and left an offering of 4 dirty tables, even though they don’t close for an hour and it’s Friday. Also, they were cleaning and taking away the toppings bar at 2:00 PM, even though they do not close until 3:00 pm. Overall very bad experience and we won’t be back. We much prefer Don Choches, Rio Taco, New Mexico Beef Jerky, and this other Birria + ramen taco place near 4th. All the other places I mentioned make this place a very 1 star experience.

We had such a great time at Barbacoa! Everything was so tasty and fresh. What I liked most was the super tender & slow cooked meat. And the homemade tortillas!
An authentic family business with a good sense of service. We were welcomed with smiles.
The place is clean and so lovely!
We came from France and sure will return next time we visit Albuquerque!

I was in a party of five at about 11 am on a Saturday. This restaurant was extremely busy which is always always a good sign for amazing food. This restaurant has a very limited menu built around its primary product which is Barbosa. I ordered a breakfast burrito that included their signature product. Others in my party who had visited this restaurant previously simply ordered Barbacoa by the pound and that’s the proper way to eat at this restaurant. The Barbacoa at this restaurant is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Love this place and the people running it are always super sweet and welcoming. We get the by the lb deal and usually get 2-3 meals for the 2 of us. Cannot recommend them enough! You won’t be disappointed!

Solid breakfast burritos. Barbacoa is your choice of meat and your only choice. There’s a reason why though, it’s good! Red salsa off the salsa bar was extremely hot. I love hot. And this checked the box for sure. Be careful everyone else lol. The green sauce was hot as well but nothing like the red salsa.
Will definitely try the rest of their menu when I get a chance.
This is in the old logo burger building.

Barbacoa El Primo is the place to get exceptional barbacoa. Everything they serve is barbacoa and it always delivers. The employees and managers are very nice and enjoy what they do. I usually get the breakfast burrito and tacos that are fantastic. The fillings are a nice add on for the tacos and the red sauce is really hot if you like your food spicy.

The reviews caught my attention… a good portion claim this restaurant serves the best Barbacoa in New Mexico (that’s a bold statement!) Well, I can honestly say that the reviews did not disappoint. The staff is incredibly friendly with superb service to match, and the food exceeds all expectations – it’s good!
Every dish served here has a focus on Barbacoa… but you’d know that if you look at their menu. Sure, it may not appear as diverse as other restaurants in the area, but it doesn’t need to be when the Barbacoa is that good!
The only negative aspect I can think of is that some of the food doesn’t come with anything other than the Barbacoa… you add all the tomato, onions, cilantro, salsa, jalapenos, cabbage, etc. yourself. I ordered a Torta and I received meat between two slices of bread… looked kinda depressing , and I was a little surprised by it, but it’s fine since they offer a full salsa bar with all the things you’d normally want to add to your tacos, burrito, torta, and gordita.
