A Wichita Icon. The Artichoke Sandwichbar. This Irish dive opened the doors to Wichita in 1984. A restaurant by day and a bar by night! Always the place to go for a delicious sandwich and great music. Over the years, The Artichoke became known as the place to catch acoustic music, especially on the weekends. It also became known for annual events such as our yearly fish fries and of course, St. Patrick’s Day at the Artichoke is a Wichita tradition. Stop by for a cold Guinness and a friendly welcome; both are always on tap!

My first Trip here was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is fantastic and I don’t believe I’ve ever had a better sandwich soup combo. Really . . . Really tasted great. The bartender and waitress was unbelievably attentive and efficient handling the whole front end. I really enjoyed my experience there.

The food was good.altjough there was something that seemed.to be missing i could not put my finger on. We tried the Ruben Nachos. I would suggest asking if you can have them with Jalapeño chips instead of regular. Bloody Mary was one of the best I had in awhile.

Haven’t been to the artichoke in years and remember that their sandwiches use to be great. I thought I would try their roast beef. I could have gone to Arby’s and gotten a better roast beef sandwich. It’s suppose to be melted Swiss cheese….. clearly not melted. Definitely not worth the price and it’s definitely drunk bar food. For reference their picture on their website vs what you actually get.

It’s a hole in the wall for sure but never judge a book by its cover. One of the best sandwich places in Wichita. The pasta salad is something everyone needs to try.
This is only my second visit to the Artichoke in a long while, and my first time trying “The Famous Number 8”. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. There wasn’t anything that stood out honestly but it just seemed like everything came together perfectly. And what really satisfied was the bacon. Perfectly cooked and crisp. On top of that the Brocolli Salad was surprisingly tasty. After ordering this you can definitely tell why this sandwich and the Brocolli Salad stood the test of time.
I’m starting to include my girlfriend on my foodie explorations and we really enjoy just splitting the meals.

We were pleasantly impressed with the Havana club sandwiches we ordered. Definitely not authentic, but one of the best ones I’ve had.
One of our friends ordered a Ruben and again, it was also very good. The sandwiches come with a small bag of chips, I ordered a side of potato salad which was very good as well. The venue is a small bar, with a nice feel. Several options for beer, sodas, and liquor are available.
We’ll very likely be going back, I recommend this place for a sandwich type meal.

Incredible sandwiches! The famous #8 blew my mind. The Italian dressing and grated Parmesan was such a unique combo. The toasted bun paired well with it. For a side I got the broccoli slaw, a pleasant change from normal coleslaw. Highly recommend if you need a good sandwich! Staff was really friendly. I love the Irish theme that runs throughout the entire bar.

Visiting from out of town and searched for an amazing sandwich. Ordered the #8 which is supposed to be the #1 in Wichita. Nope. This was nothing I wanted it to be. It was poor quality, barely had any meat. 1 strip of bacon on the entire sandwich with crappy bagged lettuce. We really expected more from the reviews. My advice is to find another sandwich spot. The area isn’t the greatest either.
