Housed in a converted gas station since 2004, Pizza 51 serves large, made-to-order slices, whole pies and calzones from freshly made, hand-tossed dough. Additional offerings include sandwiches, salads, and frosty beverages. Dine inside for a full view of the open kitchen’s action or catch local sports on the many tv’s while dining al fresco on the large, partially covered patio.
Vibrant haunt in a former garage serving thin-crust pizza, sandwiches & beer, plus an outdoor patio.

I did two different slices.Slice #1…pineapple, Canadian bacon, cream cheese, bacon and onion slice was my favorite. Slice #2…The cow town minus the black olives and mushrooms was good too. Self serve drinks with free refills. Outdoor patio area was nice today with the games showing. Service was great and food arrived hot and fresh.

This is a NY style place with an open kitchen, some cramped tables with checkered tablecloths, get-your-own soda, napkins, forks and clean up your table when you’re done (wait, why did I tip them at the register?)
The pizza is so so good. We just get slices of Cowtown and toasted ravioli every time. These guys are banging out enormous, super thin, crispy-chewy crust perfection. There is not another pizza like this in KC. Maybe bring cash to tip the guys sweating next to the oven, they deserve it.
There is a large outdoor seating area for those 2 days it is nice in KC. If you are lucky to live nearby get take out but be ready for a box that won’t fit in your car.

Fun atmosphere, the pizza was cooked perfectly and tasted so good. The marinara sauce may be my new favorite. The buffalo wings were great as well, rubbed and sauced very well. The service with friendly and everyone had a smile on their face. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick, local pizza joint

Waited almost 45 minutes for, at best, a mediocre sandwich. I realize it’s a pizza place but wanted to try their sandwiches since they offer on the menu. Pizza looked better, but 6 dollars for a slice of cheese is outlandish.
I wasn’t the only one to sacrifice my time. An elderly man and a couple others were waiting on their orders for at least the same amount of time. The elder ordered a slice of cheese pizza. Imagine working your whole life, retiring, and then having to wait more than 30 minutes for a $6 slice of cheese pizza. Straight comedy
Feedback for owner: Why offer sandwiches? Ridiculous that this (see picture) and a bag of chips cost 11 dollars and almost 45 minutes of waiting. If you guys only do pizza well, just take sandwiches off the menu.
Bottom line, fix your ordering system. The prioritization is messed up, people who walk in and order are taking it on the chin. Also if a slice is big and maybe worth the price (doubtful) maybe show the slice size at the entrance? Shouldn’t have to walk into the dining area to see what you’re getting.
Edited:
I actually came back to give another star because some people cared, but let me make things clear. I have updated the price (I did forget I tipped)
Yes, it was not more than 45 minutes, but I entered the restaurant around 12 and left at 12:42, I know because I was checking my watch the entire time.
I was not made aware that MY order had been refunded, it was only made clear that one customer that vocalized his complaints would receive a refund. A matter of fact is that the transaction is still processing, so I may come back and edit this review if that does go through.
Also, another thing I didn’t even mention the first time around, you made my order wrong. The cashier asked which bread I wanted and I picked sour dough. The sandwich was not made with sourdough bread. I wasn’t even going to specify bread but since it was offered I did, and it was made wrong.
Yes, the review was emotional because people generally only get an hour long lunch break and would not like to spend it waiting around. I acknowledge I added some style to the review, but I would suggest taking the feedback objectively, as owner, and not getting emotional in the response.
I’m still increasing the review a star because it’s nice that some of the staff do care about the restaurant. Wish you all the best, but my original points still stand.

This is amazing pizza with a thin crust. As others have said, ordering pizza by the slice is a large piece, and they cut it St Louis style. The Cowtown was amazing. They have craft beers on tap, wine, and sodas on fountain. Seating can be a bit tough, though we hit timing right. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

The flavor of the pizza is amazing! I absolutely loved it. However, as someone who has to be gluten free, I was disappointed by the size of the gluten free pizza especially at the price. It was tiny. It was a snack, not a meal, and definitely not worth over $10 for the size. I sadly don’t think I will be back because it costs way too much for too little.

The place looks great and really unique when you’re walking into the restaurant but when you walk in you get a different atmosphere not in look wise but in how everyone doesn’t seem to enjoy being there. This was my first time and potentially my last time. We ordered a pizza, drinks (soda), bread sticks we only received 1 out of 3 of those things. The cashier was the one asking us questions on what we wanted and somehow didn’t ring it up? I would’ve thought after I paid they would give me my receipt or at least ask if I wanted it. So they gave us water cups and no bread sticks and a burnt pizza that didn’t have much sauce and if so maybe it got super dried out due to the pizza being burnt. The table was also pretty sticky, after the they brought us the pizza they never came back since I asked for our breadstick and they said it wasn’t on the ticket, asked me if I wanted them to ring them up but I would have to pay. Really disappointed in this place I had high hopes, by the way when we went in there it was not busy in there maybe 3 tables in there so I’m not sure what happened that day.

Pizza and sub was very good. Italian sausage has great flavor! Would’ve been 5 stars but the Side Salad had no dressing or utensils to eat it with. Pizza slices are huge! The cost is fantastic for what you get! Definitely would order again if in town! This was a DoorDash order.

My son and I visited this restaurant yesterday and I was blown away by their customer service, quality of food, value for the money, attentiveness and sincere attention to detail. Selby is an absolute gem . I mean it, she was bright, cheery and helpful. Her beautiful spirit just envelops you as soon as you walk in the door . She knows the menu inside and out and made great suggestions that took the meal over the top for me. My son and I got a cheese pizza slice with sundried tomatoes, spinach, onions , jalapeños and cream cheese and a pepperoni slice. I also got a side salad . It was heavenly. The food was so good I began to devour it before I could even get a picture. Sorry about that y’all. The crust is thin so you really get to enjoy the toppings. The slices are HUGE. They cut it for you so you can easily pick it up and enjoy. I highly recommend this spot not only for the bomb a#$ pizza (easily one of the best in town) but for the superb customer service and experience they provide. When you pay them a visit tell Selby I said “hey girl hey” and make sure to tip her – she deserves it. Run don’t walk for some of the best pizza ever. You’re welcome!!!!

Nothing so special about this place. Pizza in Kansas is lackluster. This place isn’t. The pizza was pretty good. But not amazing. It didn’t blow a New Yorkers socks off.
