I love this place so much. The food is always amazing and quickly brought out. You usually have to flag down your server but the quality of the food makes up for it. My favorite is the pho, but the other dishes are amazing as well. I would highly recommend coming for happy hour to get bao buns since you can’t get them otherwise.
Miso sesame cucumbers, edamame (best item there), chicken karaage bites, togarashi tofu, and the rice chicharrones are all amazing appetizers. Weekly rotating lemonade and mocktails are beautiful. Chicken and vegetarian broth are great! The braised pork is top tier.

Oct 2025 update: I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here. It’s simply a great place with great food. This time I tried dessert — no disappointment. The beef pho is amazing; I still catch myself craving that flavor. The ramen and noodles are excellent too—I can honestly recommend every section of the menu. Also try the local pop and the mocktails, trust, you won’t be disappointed. Tea is also good.

The atmosphere and food here make it worth returning downtown every time. Service can be inconsistent, but I appreciate the unique style of the place and the friendliness of some of the wait staff.

Midtown is crawling with unique eateries, and Ima Noodles is definitely unique. There’s a large selection of main dishes like pho and rice bowls, shareable plates, Japanese soups, and more. For someone like me who was experiencing this cuisine for the first time, I relied on my server, Mirielle, for guidance. (She was fabulous and worked hard.) I had the pho with extra chicken and the flavor combination was fantastic. I wound up bringing half of it home – and enjoyed it later – because there was so much in the bowl. My friend, who is familiar with Ima, had a udon dish and was very happy with it. The dining area was comfortable, the clientele was decidely younger with its proximity to Wayne State University, and the place was clean. I would definitely go back to try other items.

We had a big group so calling for reservations was key. Our table was ready on time and our server was ON POINT; they even checked about allergies before we started ordering. Drinks, apps, and food were all delicious and even the most complicated of order arrived correct.
The only two pitfalls of this place are 1. parking (it’s downtown Detroit on the Wayne state campus, so that’s always a fun adventure to find), and 2. that they only have two individual stall bathrooms for such a large restaurant that you have to walk through a kitchen hallways that’s used for storage to get to them.

I tried Ima Noodles at their Cass corridor location. The server was nice & polite and the dishes come out promptly and was consistent with their other locations. Always good stop for noodle or rice bowls.

This place is amazing. Incredible flavors. Extremely fresh food and very friendly staff. The very casual ambiance may lead you to believe the food is less than stellar but don’t be fooled. It’s some of the best udon and ramen you’ll find anywhere.

Great first experience here! Our waitress was very helpful at assisting us with picking out our meals. I ordered the Shrimp Pho and my fiancé ordered the Shoyu Ramen. Both were delicious!

The food was excellent but the service was lacking. If all a waitress is good for is entering my order in a tablet, please just put the tablet at the table and get rid of the waitress. Didn’t come back to check on us for far too long, couldn’t answer any questions about the menu. 3% flat rate up charge on entire bill for inflation or something…how about you just increase your menu prices so people know up front what the cost is? First time will be our last.

Hello! I am a loyal customer but I have a complaint, I didn’t want to make it public but I haven’t received any answers after messaged directly…. yesterday I did take out, I placed the order and gave my card to my girlfriend to pickup and pay… once she got home with the order, I realized I was charged more than before (we always order the same) 2 things, I dont think is fair to just add the 3% for take out service, the rising cost is not only on your side but on the customer side too… the crispy tofu don cost 17dlls.. I have ordered 2 and got charge 36 plus the service fee, plus tax! When it should’ve been 34! Plus tax only! If you do the math is simple- 17 +17 =34 …. And the past 2 times Ive been there for dinner, I always have to check the check because there’s always an error, an extra drink or side… how can we address this situation?
