Jumpin’ Catfish! The modest southern catfish must have jumped on the popularity bandwagon! All through the South, cotton and soybean farms have been turned into catfish farms where genetically superior catfish are cultivated for size, flavor, and texture. Once mature, they are loaded live from the ponds and released in the processing plant, still swimming. Now that’s fresh!

Seafood & other Southern fried classics presented in a quaint, casual atmosphere with a full bar.

Tried Jumpin Catfish in Lee’s Summit for lunch. We were seated immediately and our drink order was promptly taken. Ordered some fried mushrooms ($9.99) as an appetizer and was very surprised to see how many we received. We actually ate a few before the picture was taken. The mushrooms were great and could have been a meal in itself. I ordered the two chicken breast meal with mashed potatoes ($12.99) and my wife ordered the pick four combo meal ($19.99) with catfish, shrimp, oysters and scallops. With all meals you get coleslaw, beans and hush puppies. My wife said her meal was good with no complaints. My chicken meal was good however the chicken was a bit overcooked making it a little chewy. If you leave this place hungry it’s no one’s fault but your own because there is a lot of food and the free extras are all you can eat. Overall we were happy and will definitely be back. I want to try their fried quail meal

The food was okay. The chicken wasn’t seasoned enough. The fish was cooked too much. It wasn’t seasoned enough either. The server was great. He took good care of us. We celebrated our Mom’s 90th Birthday there. She had a great time with her Family.

First time here, had the combination frog leg, quail, and duck… the duck was awesome, quail wasn’t to far behind it, the frog leg not so much, more crust than meat…duck and quail very flavorful, my mother had catfish…very bland…nice size pieces

We have eaten here twice over the years, after the Ameristar Casino closed their buffet (all you can eat crab legs, specifically). This place is dark and dated (feels like you’ve walked into 1985), but while this gives the impression that it’s also dirty, we have noticed it’s very clean. Even high up light fixtures didn’t have the dust you’d expect.
The All You Can Eat crab legs are not very good, but since the collapse of the crab leg harvests, it’s difficult to find good crab legs any more. That said, the cost for crab legs here is too high.
The food is not good here. It’s basically Long John Silver’s in a bigger building. Most everything is heavy, batter-fried in oil. While I am sometimes in the mood for this kind of food, the price shouldn’t be much higher than Long John Silver’s or Captain D’s.

I will say that the servers here are out of this world fantastic!!!

The pieces of fish have gotten much smaller than 20 year’s ago , when we use to frequent this place. I believe they have changed hands, because the fish were much larger pieces, the fish was more seasoned and the beans. Everything was bland as far as taste, long johns and captain Dee’s are better options!! just because you’ll get more for your buck. This was all you can eat and we had enough after our first plate. I will not be going back to this establishment ever again and I wish I could have asked for a refund the guy who gave us service. He was very nice. The service was excellent. But.. the food was trash, it tasted like hospital patients food!!

Love this place. I have been gluten free for a year and feel better. No allergies, just discomfort from eating wheat. You can get the catfish grilled instead of breaded and fried, and I can eat the beans and cole slaw. I don’t eat the hush puppies and feel fine afterwards.

Food is absolutely delicious & I love it every time I go but they seem to be under staffed every time I go. This time we had to grab our own silverware off of another table, we had to go get our own to-go boxes & had to wait forever for the check so we could leave. Unacceptable!!!

My wife, daughter, and I just had the most amazing meal at jumping catfish. This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere, quiet and homie, and very kid friendly with crayons at the table. If that wasn’t enough the food was spectacular. My wife is from Louisiana and in her words ” this is the closest I’ve gotten to a southern home cooked meal I’ve ever had in the midwest”

A speacial thank you to our server phoenix for the excellent service and we will definitely become regulars at this tucked away jewel of a restaurant

My first time at this location in Lee’s summit. We decided on an early lunch due to missing brunch. Enjoyed the AYCE fish, crawfish tails, fried quail and fried chicken. Great sides with the Northern beans and Cole slaw.
