We came in on a Saturday early evening. We were happy to pick our own seats and got a booth with a nice view. The waitress came right over and was nice but definitely awkward. The food was fine in my opinion. It was basic but nothing special. I got the chicken Caesar wrap, which I was slightly disappointed to see the chicken was fried. My fries were a bit disappointing and there was no seasoning or any flavor. The food did come out super fast.

This is a tough review to write. We were staying in Moultonborough for the weekend and wanted to try a local eatery. We asked our friend if the Village Kitchen was good and he said, oh yes VK is very good!! Off we went for dinner, and noticed that the parking lot was full. Good sign, but wondered how long the wait would be. They said about 40 minutes, but within 5 they told us that they had a table ready for us!!! We sat at this really oddly shaped table that the waitress said they called NH table. Our waitress was sweet albeit a little nervous….but she got our order right and the food came out hot and quickly. While we were waiting for the food to come out (which was only about 10 minutes) we read that they served breakfast. Food was delicious and the blueberry crumble pie and chocolate cream were both delicious!!!
Now is the hard part…the next morning we went back for breakfast at about 8 am. We got right in and were asked by a young girl how many people were in our party. We said 5 and asked for us to wait while we checked on a table. All of a sudden this woman who looked like she was either, tired, miserable or hated her job asked if we were “good”….my friend said we will be when we eat!!! She looked at us all like we were dirt and said, well do you need a table? I said, no thanks the girl is getting the NH table for us!! The look that she gave me was the most disgusted look I’ve ever gotten!!! The women (we found out was named Rhonda) walked away from us and went up to the girl and made some snarky comment to her. The girl then came asked if everyone in our party was there, so that we could be seated. Since we were all there we were taken to the table. A party of 4 were seated behind us, with only 2 of the 4 being at the table for about 20 minutes before the other 2 showed up!!!! Ok for their whole party to not all be there, but it wouldn’t be for us???? Hmmmmm. Food was good!!! Hot, seasoned well and speedy. Then it came time to pay. I brought our tab up to the register, and good ole Rhonda came up and used the register, looked at me dead in the eyes, and just walked away. Unfortunately having a person like that in a restaurant that has decent food, makes the ratings go down. I guess we will not be going back unless we happen to catch a day when Rhonda isn’t working.

Cute place for simple meals. We got breakfast and it was good. Eggs cooked a perfect over easy! Breakfast came out quick too! Drinks were small but good. We got a mimosa and bloody mary. Prices are reasonable.

No. I believe she is the owner, blonde-rude and clearly not happy to have new customers in her restaurant. The food here does not support how badly we were treated by you. You didn’t have jelly at our table so I got up and took off the neighboring table that wasn’t even set up. Just opened hardly anyone there. You gave me the dirtiest look like I was throwing dishes on the floor. I was helping waitress who seemed scared. Then made a scene of coming over and taking the creamers of our table and telling us we could take from another table and leaving us with none for our coffee. The steak omelette tasted like the meat was bad. My daughter’s breakfast sandwich was not good and neither of us ate our food. It was hard to eat while you loudly talked about us to the other diners. Calling me hon and calling after me while I walk out after being so rude to a paying customer and offering to pack our leftovers? We will never return and you should consider a different career.

Plenty of parking, no wait. Staff are polite and attentive; coffee refill arrived right on time every time. Soup of the day was Turkey and rice. A cup with salad was perfect for lunch. This restaurant is cash only, but they’re is an ATM on site if needed. Reasonable prices. Quiet atmosphere made it easy to have a business lunch.

A local spot with so much charm, love and delicious home cooked meals! We were looking for a place we could cozy up in to start off our vacation here in New Hampshire and found the right vibes at The Village Kitchen. The food came out quick and hot and we all left stuffed to the brim with no crumbs left behind. My favorite part of this restaurant was not only the warm and inviting inside, but the beautiful view of the mountains crested in fall foliage outside while you ate your breakfast. If you’re a local, stopping by town or visiting any time of year, this spot will give you that heartwarming delicious home cooked meal and atmosphere. The service was great too! My only note for anyone wanting to come by is to make sure you bring cash as they do not accept cards! All in all we enjoyed our breakfast and will come back if we ever find ourselves here again!

I hate to write this review because I’ve been coming here 7 years. But, I feel like the quality of food and service has completely dissolved over the years. I visited this location with two other people and for $50 for three people to leave and still be hungry was a slap in the face of going out to eat.

$10 for 1 medium size waffle when the menu clearly shows 2 on the photo and we use to get 2 before like the photo.

$10 for breakfast sandwich only to be so dry but greasy and so thin barely any meat in it. Greasy from the butter and over cooked fried egg. The home fries were literally sauteed onions and mashed potatoes, because it was so mashed you couldn’t even tell there were cut up potatoes. Maybe it was the bottom of the barrel leftovers or what but it was greasy and disgusting.

I have to say this will literally be my last time being there and it’s a tourist trap. They only accept cash and as soon as you walk in you get dirty looks like they’re not even happy that you’re there.

The town definitely needs a better breakfast places in the area, not only for residents but for people who visit and spend tons the money to be there. It costs several hundred dollars a night just to stay at a local cabin or rental. Then you go to a place like this for breakfast and you’re Blown away how a simple breakfast sandwich with home fries can be so disgusting and looks thrown together like eat it and get the hell out type of feeling way.

I already talked to people who vacation there every weekend and they also feel the same way. They stated it’s best to stay in and cook breakfast then go there because you’re going to leave hungry after paying so much money.

The photos online are not what you’re getting anymore. Those photos are old probably before covid or they made it look good to draw customers in but they don’t look like that anymore.

This place has a nice atmosphere a bit off the beaten path. The food was decent and service was totally fine. Nothing above & beyond but it was a pleasant experience overall.

The Village Kitchen is one of the best places to eat in the Lakes Region. They have the best waffles in the area. The best views. It’s cash only. Sometimes a wait but always worth it !

A great relaxed atmosphere. GREAT PRICES! If you love french toast this is the place for you. Their french toast is fresh home made sweet bread! If you see a long line DON’T LEAVE! The line goes quick and is well with the wait…..people are waiting for a reason. Each night it’s a different special for dinner. Try the prime rib. The picture included is of the farmers breakfast.
