We just got lucky on this one! We picked the hotel next door and out of convenience went to this restaurant. It wasn’t a winning lottery ticket….but pretty close! Margaritas were tasty and queso was good (maybe a little runny) but flavorful. We ordered the shredded chicken chimichangas and they were excellent! The chicken was perfectly seasoned! So happy we ended up here! And service was so friendly and quick! A hidden gem for sure!

El Cabrito is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants we’ve ever been to. Every single visit has been amazing. We always receive fast service, and the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They truly make you feel like family.
The food is consistently fresh, hot, and full of flavor. You can tell everything is made with care. And my absolute favorite dessert is the tres leches. It is absolutely phenomenal. It’s hands down the best I’ve had.
If you’re looking for great food, excellent service, and a place you can count on every visit, El Cabrito never disappoints. Highly recommend!

As a Texan I can vouch that this place had great food and great service. The refried beans were amazing and the rice was also great. Service was fast and I always got my refills on time. I made sure to leave a big tip 40% as a thank you.
Surpassed my expectations of what Mexican food could be in rural Missouri.
Only room for improvement were the flour tortillas. They seemed like store bought or just flat.

Super Delicious Mexican Food!
We came here twice during our stay—it was that good! The food is packed with flavor, and everything we tried was delicious. Their cheese dip is a must, the desserts hit the spot, and the margaritas were perfect. The service was also fantastic—friendly and very attentive, which made the experience even better. Great food, great vibes—we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

$20 for this? Completely unacceptable.
The Cabrito Special was a major disappointment. The Mexican rice was soggy and clearly overcooked, lacking any texture or freshness. The portions of beef, chicken, and shrimp were shockingly small — more like garnish than a main entrée. For a $20 plate, the value simply isn’t there. The dish felt rushed, poorly prepared, and overpriced for the quality and quantity served. I expect far better execution at this price point.

I was really craving Mexican food being away from Texas and all. Started off w/chips & salsa; chips were good and the salsa was really tasty for a table salsa. I added on some queso; that was a bit runny and bland.. still decent.
After looking over the menu.. I decided on getting an Asada Torta & the enchiladas Bandera! The enchiladas came with/3, each one had a different sauce topping.. rice and beans. The enchiladas were all really good! Rice was tasty and the beans had good refried taste and they were topped with some white cheese. I had to ask if the plate came with tortillas.. came to find out that’s not normal. So I added an order of flour tortillas. I’m used to homemade.. or at least cooked, the flour tortillas were straight out the package.. almost felt steamed. That was the only complaint.
The torta.. man, that hit the spot! It was loaded, and the salsa that came with it was tasty & just the right amount of spicy!! I poured that whole container on my torta & asked for a container to go!
Food was delicious.. and the waitress was super nice! I’ll have to go back soon!

Nice Mexican restaurant tucked away on Route 66 in the small Army town of Waynesville, Missouri. From the moment you walk in until you leave you’re great like one of the family. It’s got more of a younger feel than the other Mexican eateries in town with cool decorations. We’ve come here several times now and have never been disappointed. Our server most recently was Alberto who treated us like we were special and answered all our questions in detail. I tried a new dish called Pollo Arandas. It’s a grilled chicken breast topped with chorizo and a creamy cheese sauce. I was worried that the cheese would be overpowering but it was light and creamy and had so much flavor. It’s my new favorite! They also have a great happy hour that lasts all night. I highly recommend you stop by and give them a try.
