I always loved Cafe Rio for the large portion size for the price we’re paying, especially the delicious salads. But for the past year or two I’ve noticed a change in the happiness of the employees, followed by a change in the food and portions. The food still tastes pretty good but they’re training the new employees to do smaller portions and warm up the sweet barbacoa differently than they used to. The horchata is watery. This used to be the only location I go to because the others/new ones were changing and now this one has too. Last time I got food here the new employees handed me 1/3 of my order and I had to keep telling them they forgot items as they kept trying to send me out the door. And the lid wasn’t on my salad dressing so it spilt over on my way home. Idk I’m sad to say I may stop coming here as they also keep skimping on my shredded lettuce. My salad is so small but super dense with carbs. I don’t want to pay for extra lettuce when the guys who used to work here ALWAYS hooked it up I guess. I miss them. I haven’t seen them in a long time.

Cafeteria style Mexican where you build your own dish from the available ingredients. The Thursday special, coconut shrimp tacos, was very good. The coconut flavor isn’t strong but was definitely there. Next time, I would choose not to have lettuce though. The pieces were too big and there nee de ed to be less of it. The black beans were good.
Service was fast and friendly. The space was casual and comfortable with a lot of seating.

I’ve always thought Café Rio has good food overall—the flavors are solid and the ingredients taste fresh. However, my experience with their handheld burrito has been consistently disappointing. It’s far from what I would expect from a properly made handheld burrito.
Instead of being tightly wrapped and easy to hold, it falls apart, feels poorly structured, and makes it difficult to eat without making a mess. I’ve ordered handheld burritos at many other places and never had this issue. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once here and other locations.
The taste is good, but the execution really needs improvement. If they can fix the way the burrito is assembled and wrapped, it would make a big difference in the overall experience.

this review is mainly for MARIBEL, the most lovely server here. yes I love cafe rio and the flavors of their food is the best compared to similar places like chipotle etc, but I have to rave about Maribel ~ she went absolutely above and beyond to help me have the best experience. I had to request a fix to my food and she literally remembered my entire order in her head and brought it to my table… the entire time she took our orders originally she just had the best brightest energy and made us smile!! so sweet and pleasant. we were literally talking about how lovely she was.
please know that when you come to this Cafe Rio you will be taken care of well by her!! thank you Maribel!!

The man with the ponytail on the line was not very good at describing and telling us what were our options for entrees. He seemed very annoyed and mentioned “thats not how we do it”. Tried to mansplain to us when ordering. Next time take into consideration it could be someone’s first time and probably last and try to have better costumer service. The cashier was fine.

The food is horrible looked like dog food wrapped in a tortilla with canned green salsa on top. I just can’t ordered it from door dash never again…. weird quesadila with some nasty red sauce all over………paid extra for guacamole and it looks horrific….Don’t waste your money

Im so speacheles; I just drop my food in the floor of the parkign lot. I was about to leave; and they come to my car and ask me if i want a need burrito. Well they make me a new one and bring it back to my car ❤️❤️Oliver the manager is so nice and kind. what a great service

Food is amazing and the people are amazing as well! However, the manager seems like he’s a bit of an ass to his employees. I’ve seen the way he’s talked to a few of his employees a few times and I cringed myself. I wouldn’t speak to my employees that way. I’m giving 5 stars still for the food and great service the team gives!

We go into this Cafe Rio often. The night manager always seems to have a problem with us. We ask for extra sauce or extra meat knowing it’s going to be an extra charge. The manager will roll his eyes at us when we ask or give an attitude when we ask. Tonight we confronted him about him his attitude and he started yelling and screaming at us. Great customer service that was. Instead of trying to resolve the issue he decided to yell at customers. I had to be the one to tell him to stop yelling and just have someone else take care of us. I will be getting his name next time and adding to this review. Great job Cafe Rio
