They have a happy hour now with a choice of 20 items. Seemed ok at a cheaper price.

I’m all for cheaper ayce with lower quality foods but this is really low. The nigiri are dry so it’s been sitting out for a while. The chopped scallop cone, spicy tuna/salmon are salty. The negitoro is chewy. The mini chashu don is salty. The only ok thing is the wings which are flavorless but has a crunchy exterior and juicy interior. House roll only had imitation crab, salmon, and egg. The oyster motoyaki had the weirdest tasting mayonnaise. And at the end they charged us weekend rate on a Wednesday night at $17.95 instead of $16.95. The quality here used to be much better. It’s not worth anymore and you can get better quality at ninkazu in Richmond without a limit number of items to order.

3 hour experience.

It appeared they were understaffed, and doing their best to help everyone.

5:35pm we handed out our “all you can eat” sheet. Received a portion of our food and waited about 15-20 minutes each time between dishes ( first round ). After all dishes from first round were complete we waited 30 minutes for service, before we decided to approach someone to get assistance on our second round of “all you can eat”. I requested a bowl of rice and mentioned they missed one of our dishes. We mentioned that missing dish to the same person twice and still never got it.

Our tea had only been refilled once in the 1.5 hr we were there. Our plates were piling up and no one was really assisting. I started getting irritable and told a server “we’ve been here for nearly 2 hours and we’re not even getting service, and we’re still missing a dish. Canceled my bowl of rice. We just want the remainder of our food because this is too long.

People around were getting their dishes who arrived after us.

After complaining food started coming out much faster. What took us 2 hours for the first round only took us 15 mins for second round. We finished our meal ( still missing the first dish )

7:55PM we finally left.

On the menu it says expected time is 1.5 hours. We were there for nearly 3 hours, and for majority of the time we waited for our dishes to come. They did better after our complaint. Our tea was refilled 3 more times and offered refills. It’s not their fault but I blame management for not having more workers.

Also another thing I have to mention: They handed us 2 glasses of water, one which cup did not look clean, it was slightly brown and had lip stains on it.

Some of the food were not portioned evenly, some of us had more food than the other ( shown on the udon photo ). Some of the food came out cold in the middle ( vegetable spring rolls, gyoza, fried tofu .. )

Thanks servers for doing your best while understaffed. Thumbs down on management for not managing better.

Terrible experience. This was our first time back in Metrotown since Rainforest Cafe and the Irish pub was around. We chose this restaurant out of sentiment when it use to be a different Japanese restaurant with a conveyer belt serving all you can eat.

Reasonable price but the food wasn’t that great ( sushi / nigiri was excellent ) but everything else was bland and not worth it. Service was terrible due to lack of staff, but I’m sure on slower days it wouldn’t be an issue.

We chose the mix & match lunch on Sat. Kind of AYCE, but with limitation on 30 items each person. For $25/person, the portion is OK. Food quality average. Sushi 4 out of 5. Smaller than your normal sushi. Cooked food just so so, especially the fried tofu. One thing to note. If you want to take out leftover foods, they will charge you $3 per person. That’s more than the usual $1.

Despite other reviews of this restaurant who deemed lower than deserving of a diners review, I thought this experience was quite great, and definitely the best shopping mall sushi I’ve had in BC.

I arrived on a Wednesday evening with two other adults and a child. The dining room is bright lit, washrooms were very clean (no nasty smell) and I loved the way the booths are partitioned with wooden lattices that bring a sense of Japan to the decor. We were seated in the biggest booth available which for our group was extremely generous in size (ask for a big booth and you shall receive if it’s not already taken).

We were pleasantly greeted at the door and provided menus. We selected their ‘All Day Mix and Match’ blue Menu. Monday- Friday ($1 more on weekends and holidays) for $24.95+ tax per adult there was plenty of options to choose from. They also have a Premium Menu option for $38.95 + GST ( $1 more on weekends), which includes Sashimi & Prawn/Crab stick tempura, if you really really must indulge in those. Other that that there is no difference in options.

The food was much tastier than other ‘all-you-can-eat’ sushi places in the lower mainland. Care of presentation is noted as well. The Tori Karaage (version of Korean fried boneless chicken), Shishamo Karaage (fish in batter – which btw puts ‘Highliner Fishsticks’ to utter shame); were both battered extremely well. Biting into a very crispy batter (the way it should be) and once into the protein parts were tender and juicy. The Pork Katsu followed suit and just as yummy.

They allowed our son who’s 8years old to order off the regular a-la-cart menu as not to incur the nominal fee of the menu we adults were eating from. In this way you only need to order a min. of $12 and not be charged the adult/4+ year old prices noted above.

Service was pleasant, being checked in on just the right number of times. Because the restaurant wasn’t busy the 1.5hr seating limit didn’t apply and we were even told not to rush.

The ‘All You Can Eat,’ Mix and Match menu is an interesting concept. It’s not all you can eat with unlimited access to food while you’re seated, instead you get to choose up to 30items (you can double/triple down if you’d like on items) and there are certain items you can only order qty. 1 of like the Grilled Salmon Head, which by the way was a very generous size and also flavoured well. Take note when you order a sushi roll it’s a single piece (1 piece) so you need to order 6-pieces to make up a roll.

The menu was full of variety, food presented well, and the flavours were good throughout. For the price it was well worth it and we can’t wait to come and dine again.

Remeber good food takes time so if you’re a diner that expects super super speedy service, you won’t get that here. They offer take out service. For the easiest access come through the mail entrance closest to McDonalds, look right and head up the escalator to the upper floor, turn left and it’s right there. If in the underground, park by the Cineplex access entrance and use the elevator to level UL, once you land turn left and you’ll see it

Worst food I’ve ever eaten … Smelt terrible, and tasted even worse. Go here if you want a side of throw up with your meal. Sushi was mush and chicken was slimy. Just writing this is making me think of puking.

Beef was clearly boiled a while ago for their “Teriyaki don” that is on a plate! Their salmon and tuna nigiri gave me a stomach ache. Gyoza was disgusting and tastes worse than store bought from a dollar store and it was so oily on the bottom for what, the California roll, the rice was really hard and felt like they put no effort into putting the ingredients together…when they brought out cups they weren’t dry who knows if it was dirty or clean water all over them……… the vegetables tasted defrosted and soggy way too expensive for how terrible it is 30$ for 6 pcs of assorted fish?

Value Alert ‼️ Just when you think all you can eat is a thing of the past due to your inability to eat as much as when you were younger. You can still go and take the left over home from this place!! . As long as it is under the limit of 30 orders per person !!

Go on a date and eat brunch and bring sushi to surprise your kids and/or grandkids for dinner .

If you want value for your dollars and skip dinner preparation for the night, then you should try out this place.

For each person, You may be able to feed 2 -3 person for around $30 (includes tips at 10% and 5% GST). Especially if you are senior 65+ and you bring your own containers.

Imagine
1st person gets 8 cones of various kinds, 1 order of salmon head plus one order of chicken udon noodles
2nd person gets 5 cones plus 10 pieces of California roll
3rd person gets 5 cones and 5 salmon sushi . Total 30 orders. One eat on site and the remaining in 2 boxes to take back .

Bring your ID if you are blessed with a younger appearance.

How it works- All Day Mix & Match –
30 orders maximum for each person.

Monday to Friday
Each senior 65 and over $22.95 or
For age 4 to 64 $24.95
plus $3 take home fee plus 5% GST plus tips.
Holidays and weekends cost $1 per person extra.

Note: Although MOST order comes with 1 piece but make sure you add the number of orders and not numbers of pieces as 1 order of maki sushi like California roll comes with 2 pieces.

Highly recommended the Chopped Scallop Cone and Gomae Salad (cold spinach in sesame soy sauce) are my favourite but do check out their nigiri sushi and others but I do recommend to order 1 piece first to explore your own favourites.

Warning ‼️ there is a 18% service charge added to the bill for parties of six or more – so group seating maximum 5 person per table to save on the service charge.

Take out small & medium container and bag $.50 each. Large container $1 each plus tax. So bring your own and bring ice pack too if you plan to do more shopping after.

Extra $.75 for lemon or ginger.

There is another option if you order from their A La Carte menu and share the Mix and Match menu. The instructions are on their menu.

If you are looking for quantity, variety and value then check this place out.

Hope you have a great time sharing food and zero food waste.

Please ❤️ my post if you find this helpful.

Went there with my Fiance to eat lunch, and ordered ‘Beef Short Ribs’ and when my fiance pick up a beef rib off of the plate, underneath the Beef Ribs was a hair from one of the restaurant’s staff.

Me and my fiance was disgusted about it and reported it to one of the tall young male staff and said that his manager will come and to assist us with the concern but the manager did not arrived, when a old female staff was walking by, we ask for assistance and told her about the hair on the plate, she quickly addressed the concern and apologized and that we didn’t need to pay for the ‘Beef Short Ribs’ and she kept on apologizing after we paid for the rest of the food.

Staff with hair should be wearing hairnet or beardnet when handling food specially if you’re going to serve it to your customer.

And no we did not enjoy the food. we’ve lost appetite when this happened.

The old and young lady staff are kind and helpful to us.

This rating is for Kawawa Japanese Ramen next door.

Affordable ramen but I always ended up ordering fried rice. My friends ramen looked pretty good, though.

Food was great , service quite fast, not so much selections for sushi selections and its 1pc/ customer. Lots of empty tables. It’s not as it used to be.
