Our summer trip to Maine wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at The Lobster Pound, and it turned out to be one of our favorite dining experiences of the season. The whole setup is such a fun experience—my daughter loved being able to choose her own lobster straight from the tanks and have it prepared fresh. The lobster pasta was overflowing with tender, perfectly cooked chunks of lobster—no skimping here! I ordered the white fish, and it was easily one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in years: light, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
What really makes this place shine, though, is the people. On our drive home to New Jersey, we realized my daughter had left her Beats headphones behind. One quick call later, and the team not only tracked them down but also mailed them back to us at no charge. That kind of thoughtfulness and care is rare, and we were so grateful—it turned a small disaster into another reason to rave about this spot.
The wait wasn’t bad at all, and while you do wait, you can soak in the outdoor lobster-picking scene, which makes the time pass quickly. Between the fresh, delicious food, the warm atmosphere, and their incredible kindness, The Lobster Pound is the kind of place you’ll remember long after your trip ends. Maine was beautiful, but this meal (and the people who made it special) was the highlight.
The lobsters were absolute perfection—sweet, succulent, and cooked just right. All we had to do was crack them open and dip into clarified butter heaven.
The steamers were incredibly clean—so fresh they didn’t even need to be rinsed in broth!
Every staff member was friendly, attentive, and clearly knew their seafood inside and out. True professionals.
If you’re ever in Ogunquit, this place is a must-visit experience!
Just a heads-up—they’re only open Friday through Sunday from 5–8 pm.
We lucked out arriving at 7:45 pm and still got a warm, welcoming experience.
Food:
We both had lobster bisque and then lobster fettuccine(mine with penne noodles and his with long noodles-the ones that are a pain in the butt to eat!
We were so full after, but we wanted to try dessert so we brought it home. I had blueberry pie and he had some sort of 3 cake thing? Blueberry pie is a decent size and so yummy!
I’d say we’d be back again for sure but the 8 hour drive in between us may alter those plans. Thank you for making amazing food we haven’t had in a while!
The food was delicious the staff both inside and outdoors (the lobster guys) were friendly and professional.
