Very disorganized. Good people. Nice-ish staff. But steak and shake itself is no longer that great and more expensive than Freddy’s which honestly tastes like steak and shake used to. You place your order yourself at a kiosk there’s no other option, not even sure why you can dine in at this point. When you get your order you have to take your receipt and scan a QR code to show them you’ve received your order. Crazy. Inconvenient, bad system update. All of them are like this now.

Today is the second visit to Steak n Shake that our family has made in the last month. It’s been years since we ate here because, years ago, this place was a bit of a dump and the staff was not anything to write home about – it was sketchy!
Now the staff is polite and the food is very good. The main reason we came after so many years was to try the new tallow fries since tallow is such a healthy option – they’re delicious! The burgers were fresh and done just right. I’ve missed Steak and Shake and glad it’s doing better than it had been in the past.
We also visited the restroom which was clean. The dining room seemed clean as well but we did drive thru so I didn’t receive service there.
The reason I give 4 stars is because its still fast food. I would pick this place over McDonald’s, Wendy’s and even Culvers, any day. It kind of reminds me of the beef version of Chick-fil-A.

Food is great prices are decent. Though what really caught my eye was the older male manager with glasses. He had a positive attitude, he was so kind, everything about him was upbeat. I especially loved how he talked to all the young men working. When he asked them to do something he was polite about it and said please. He was training another young boy to clean the dining room. I love that he was teaching him and not having some other employee teach him. This place is rocking it for a fast food joint

The food is decent for fast food and relatively fast. The service is non existent because it’s all electronic ordering. There’s people but who knows where or what they’re doing. Not much difference than desperately ordering food from a vending machine

What happened? This place was decent but now McDonald’s is better. Went through the drive thru today. The fries were old. The drink was more ice than drink. The burger was one of the worst burgers I have ever tasted.

They don’t have cottage cheese anymore. its all done by computers now when ordering inside. Hate it. I like talking to ppl. Also tried to get extra sauce on my burger put it in computer and didn’t get it. Also when u order extra sauce each thing costs 50 cents… it’s crazy for a little cup.

Great steak burgers and shakes. Great service too. Nathan is the best, spot on for all your needs. The Prime Burger is new and a welcome addition to the menu. Take out is awesome. Again Nathan handled all our needs. Price is very reasonable for us. Highly recommended. Just a family fun experience.

Ordered a single butter burger without cheese..lettuce, tomato, onion and no mayo. This is what I got. Single cheese , grilled onion, lettuce and few pieces fresh onion and about quarter inch cold butter and no tomato. Bun fell apart everything slid off and difficult to eat. I gave up and ate my fries.
I had not eaten at Steak and Shake for about 5 plus years and I won’t go back. Disgusting.

I usually go through the drive-thru. This is my first time in the restaurant in years and I’ll never be back. Photos are the reason. And also, they have no cherry syrup out for chery coke on the self-serve drink bar with a scanner that says “We’re too lazy to serve our customers AND we don’t trust you.”
