This time, I decided to explore more of their seafood options. The appetizers were excellent, especially the fresh bread with dip and the starters we ordered. The salmon was perfectly cooked, nicely grilled with a great sauce on the side. The prawns were also fresh and flavorful.
The tuna steak looked beautiful and was well grilled, but compared to everything else, it could have been a bit more refined in seasoning and texture. Not bad at all — just slightly below the very high standard they usually set.
The side dishes were generous and well prepared — roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables were simple but tasty and complemented the mains well.
The atmosphere is lively, with medium to slightly high noise levels, but you can still comfortably have a conversation. It feels energetic rather than overwhelming.
The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience better. Service has consistently been warm and attentive during my visits.
Location-wise, it’s very convenient — very close to Ghent’s historic centre, making it perfect if you’re already exploring the city. Taxis typically drop you off about 2 minutes away on the main street since the restaurant is in a no-car zone. For pickup, you’ll need to walk out a bit, but there are usually cabs available near the Albert Heijn supermarket about 3–4 minutes away.
Overall, Argenvino remains a solid choice in Ghent — especially for meat lovers — with great service, good wine selection, and a lively atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back again.
It’s a small venue and quite loud. You can have a conversation, but it won’t be with soft-spoken words.
We’ll definitely be back!
I popped in on my own one evening for dinner and was so impressed with my steak that I brought the whole family back the following night. We had the ribeye (Irish, I believe), a nice glass of Chianti for the missus, and the children’s chicken for the little ones. The food was absolutely amazing. Even our quite picky children cleaned their plates, which is rare, and then polished it all off with a scoop of ice cream.
The place was heaving both nights, which is always a good sign. You could see the staff constantly on the go, darting back and forth with large, sizzling hot dishes.
But I have to give a special mention to Ruben. Honestly, he is the star of this restaurant. Always smiling, never stopping, and absolutely legendary with the customers. He really made the experience for us.
Well worth a visit!
The size of the meal is very good per person if you really enjoy big fulling meals. The sides is accompanying the meat very well.
The staff is nice and friendly. We spent almost 3 hours in there and had great time.
We had cocktails before which the Whisysour was the only negative thing we had that night 😀
The restaurant is small so I highly recommend that you make a booking. Despite this, we arrived without a book and they made a plan to accommodate us. The back of the restaurant has a wonderfully lit wine cellar.
They have an incredible selection of wines and beers. As this is an Argentinian restaurant meat is the main focus of the menu, they do however have a great range of seafood items on the menu.
Everything we ordered was delicious. The grilled octopus starter was divine, and the smoky, charred taste just elevates this dish. For mains we ordered the grilled salmon and steak – both of which were flawless. The side dishes of salad, roast vegetables and basil pesto pasta were also good.
The portion sizes are good. It is an expensive night out but well worth the money, especially for special occasions.
I definitely need to come back to try out the dessert items on the menu!
The meal went wrong with the steak. I ordered it medium rare and it came out pretty much raw. I ordered it with the pasta & pesto instead of potatoes, but it came with potatoes. They told me it would be a ten minute wait since it wasn’t on the ticket. Had I known how undercooked the steak was, I would have said to go ahead with it, but kept the potatoes instead. I don’t know if I just received bad service from the initial waitress as the other staff was great, or what, the flavors were good but the experience is not one I want to repeat.
Staff were very helpful explaining the menu and service was on point. Not intrusive but there when you need them.
If you’re visiting ghent and like a good steak and good wine then drop by Argenvino
The staff is incredibly friendly. You can clearly see that the people that run this place are passionate about what they do.
The food was delicious. I had the Black Angus Ribeye Steak (USA) and my parents shared the Côte à l’Os. The meat was so tender and the seasoning wasn’t over the top (which I love!!). The side dishes were a nice surprise too. They only have 1 vegetarian dish, which makes sense since it’s a meat restaurant.
The dishes definitely aren’t cheap, but you can taste that they use quality meat. I’d say it’s worth your money.
In short, I only have positive points for this place. If you’re a meat lover, then this is a restaurant you just have to visit when you’re in Ghent!!
