The dessert surprised us in the best way. It was cold outside, and the warm apple-and-cinnamon with ice cream was such a comforting combination. We’d definitely recommend both of these dishes.
Service was wonderful too—we felt genuinely welcome and taken care of, with attention to every detail.
The atmosphere was just right for a Sunday afternoon. Football was playing on most of the TVs, setting the vibe for everyone to feel involved at least in some way. When I asked our group if they cared, the answer was a firm “nope.” So from that point on, I ignored the game too—not because I minded it, but because I simply didn’t care either. Still, it was nice knowing we were all in agreement.
We were seated in a large booth—finally, a booth where four people can actually move their elbows without knocking things over. We were in a good mood and surrounded by good friends, and maybe that’s why my guard as a critic dropped a bit. But old habits never die, so I still kept an eye on things. I noticed our waitress—seasoned and mature—carried a bit of tiredness in her demeanor, and some of her usual spark seemed worn down.
We guys were in the mood for something simple. After getting our water and menus, we just focused on conversation and weren’t looking for any shenanigans. As always, I made my way to the bathrooms. The critic in me had a moment when I saw the glass bathroom doors and the hallway glass walls—just uncomfortable. But that’s probably just me, and I’m sure whoever designed it made sure it wasn’t see-through from either side.
As we searched for that perfect “4 o’clock on a Sunday” meal, the tiredness in our waitress became more noticeable. I ordered the seafood platter with some sides and, for my drink, just good ol’ water.
The wait time was perfectly fine because we were in full friend mode—talking, laughing, not watching football, and just enjoying ourselves. When our food came out, we genuinely enjoyed it.
For the rest of the meal, we didn’t expect much attention since we could tell the waitress had better things to do, like hanging out with people near the bar. The meal was uneventful but fun thanks to our group.
I don’t have many observations to give, other than one of the silverware sets being dirty with leftover food. We didn’t mention it because we were more focused on our conversation than anything else.
We were having such a good time that the waitress’ attitude didn’t matter, and it won’t affect the rating either—because we all have those days.
Thanks for the food.
