Had a fantastic experience at Posana. The kitchen is dedicated gluten free, and they are also very knowledgeable about additional allergies. It was such a wonderful experience to not have to worry about allergies for once as someone who can’t eat gluten.
However, this isn’t just good for gluten free standards, the food is just plain great. The cheddar biscuits were fantastic – light and fluffy. I had the NY strip with greens and potatoes for my entree and it was fabulous, perfectly cooked. Finished the meal with the hot chocolate Mexican torte. The drinks were also very well made, and service was wonderful. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Asheville.

AMAZING! I don’t think it’s a strong enough adjective but amazing nonetheless. My wife and I spent the weekend in Lake Lure and were looking for an upscale restaurant. We ended settling on Posana based on the menu. We ended up sitting at the bar which was great, comfortable chairs, and great service! The food was so amazing! My wife did the 3 course restaurant week menu, where she had the Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies, Short rib, and Tahini caramel tiramisu. (Chefs kiss)
I had the New York Strip, equally amazing!
We also had the cheddar biscuits with the hot honey butter. Honestly, I would still have thought this place was amazing if I had stopped at the biscuits.
We each had a drink, I had the Pear of Thieves and my wife had the Nai Thai with Tequila.
Honestly, this place is too cheap. Our bill pre-tip was $146. I was shocked! The service, quality, and quantity of the food we had should have easily been $200 plus.
Go have a beautiful, romantic, and delicious meal, your partner will be wowed and your wallet will be thankful!

– We spent 4 hours hiking John Rock at Pisgah National Forest earlier in the day, so we arrived hungry.
– Orders: cheddar biscuits (starter); lobster gnocchi (husband’s entrée); short ribs (wife’s entrée)
PROS
– Seated promptly for our reservation (despite arriving 10-15 minutes early and not prompting staff to seat us promptly).
– Extremely thoughtful staff — congratulatory card, wine, appetizer, and dessert (definitely the most any restaurant has ever celebrated us, which was so kind of Posana to do)
– Plentiful gluten-free options for my wife
– Filtered water (probably not fluoride-free, though)
– Atmosphere was nice but not pretentious
– Cheddar biscuits were stellar — warm, great crust, and soft inside.
CONS
– Although our experience started well, something seemed to rattle multiple members of the staff during our visit, which seemed to throw off entrée delivery timing and noticeably shift the vibe (our waiter’s focus seemed to shift elsewhere).
– Entrées were technically correct but unremarkable in taste, so some experimentation with flavor or even some cracked pepper on the table would be nice. Short ribs had better flavor than the gnocchi — but also gristle, which we didn’t love, and really shouldn’t be part of a fine dining experience.
– Portions were light for the price point. Even with the complimentary extras, I left somewhat hungry — but, in fairness, that probably speaks more to the gnocchi order than Posana’s menu at-large, as well as my high activity levels earlier in the day.
BOTTOM LINE
– Google doesn’t allow for half-stars but Posana earned closer to a 4.5 in our book, largely driven by how we were welcomed overall, as well as the accommodation for the gluten-free crowd. We both noticed in particular one waiter, who — despite not being our main waiter (and possibly training others, judging from the fact that others seemed to be shadowing him) — seemed especially warm and present, presenting us with a bite from the kitchen and a dessert before we left.
– I’d recommend Posana’s atmosphere and elevated American fare to someone celebrating a very special occasion as you’ll feel seen by the staff if you make the occasion known. Otherwise, the salads looked awesome on our way out, so for something more casual I’d recommend 2 salads, cheddar biscuits, and drinks.
– Free off-street parking is available after 6 PM. However, if you happen to end dinner when it’s dark, prepare for vagrants waiting expectantly outside of Posana.

Come to Asheville once a year. This place has been a part of my rotation for awhile now. Tonight emphasized why.
Swanee and Eli behind the bar were/are phenomenal. Great suggestions and honest about the menu. Really took care to make sure I got what I was looking for with extra notice to allergies/things I can’t have.
They were great hosts somehow outshining the fantastic pork belly small plate. It was perfectly balanced and prepared. Highly recommend.
Sat next to the pass and all the servers seem to be genuinely engaged in what they’re doing and knowledgeable as one even adding to my decision making while waiting for beverages.
Highly recommend Posana.

Came across this restaurant with my girlfriend while walking along downtown Asheville and fortunately was able to get seated at the bar. We had no idea it was restaurant week and the items that were on the menu delivered in satisfaction and wonderful tastes. The cherry smoked pork belly appetizer and the Sinai burrata were beyond amazing! Along with the Gemelli Pasta with braised lamb – phenomenal dish and very tasty. The drinks were also very good and the service was great. I do recommend reserving ahead of time. Posana js a very prestige and phenomenal restaurant that every person should try. We will be back here again every time we visit Asheville.

So I spent my birthday here and I cannot express how thoughtful and pampered this place made me feel. No restaurant in all my years has gone above and beyond to make me feel special. On top of that our food was divine. For apps we got the cheddar biscuits,burrata and carrots. I highly recommend getting the lobster gnocchi as a main. I’ve never tasted gluten free pasta so well paired so well with a smooth cheese rue sauce, and the lobster bits were huge, I didn’t want to stop eating it. For dessert I chose the Mexican chocolate cake. It was so dense and rich it was delicious. This birthday dinner was definitely a forever memorable one which was perfect for a milestone birthday. Thank you so much.

HUGE Gratitude to Posana Restaurant. ❤️ This is the first time I’ve been able to eat out since being diagnosed with #celiac. Man. Have I missed the joy of a rich, delicious, made for me meal. My daughter is also celiac. We were both THRILLED to learn Posana has Asheville’s only truly dedicated gluten free kitchen and menu. We stuffed our faces with cheddar biscuits, hush puppies, fried chicken, and tiramisu (spoon fighting ensued)!!! A wonderful evening out without any concerns.
