Any business that started before I was born and is still an operation is my kind of place.
And the Dairy Del, whose sign says it has been in business since 1951, did not disappoint.
I always hit up vintage ice cream places while traveling and loved this one.
My wife got a hot fudge sundae and I chose a caramel sundae. We were both pleased.
Give it a try if you’re in the area!

So, as you drive up to the drive thru, expect laughter as the greeter emerges from the side door to take your order! Then drive 10 feet to receive your delicious swirly treat with a quickness and a smile. Great service, see you next season!

I’m getting what she had next time; my sister enjoyed this chocolate chip cookie sundae with hot fudge but I savored my waffle vanilla ice cream dipped cone… No pics but the chill dog with nacho cheese and onions was good too!

This was a wonderful late night surprise!! My girl just wanted to find somewhere that had a sweet treat. We stumbled upon this shocking busy desert shop and was delighted by the 90s feel. The person who took our order was friendly and informative! My flurry (which was like a blizzard) was perfect in price, taste, and size (the small was big in my opinion). My girl got a banana and peanut butter shake and hers was big for a small too! The reason why I didn’t give a 5 star was because the milkshake was not blended super well. Tasted great! But when you take off the lid, you can see a LOT of peanut butter on the sides. Would still recommend and would return!

Delicious!! It is drive through only at the moment but the outside tables are still available to use. We got our order, then parked to enjoy our ice cream. Prices are very reasonable and the drive through was pretty quick. I will definitely go back!

Sorry to see my favorite ice cream shop shutter for the winter. Will miss my weekly “fix”. Can’t wait til March for their return.

I really wanted to love this experience, and came away disappointed. There are so many great things, from shakes to malts, and basic food. The line of about a dozen people took 45 minutes, and the delivery service was extremely slow. Prices were reasonable. The selection was great; I had a Boston shake (a milkshake with a sundae on top) and both were okay–the banana milkshake didn’t have any fruit chunks. Another had the Elvis, which was peanut butter cups and banana. I’d give 5 stars to the menu items. The quality was less than DQ or Cookout, so I’d give 4 stars there. The service was extremely slow. Some might think the wait is because of how good it is, but that’s not my impression, so overall I’ll look at different options next time I’m in town.

The Elvis Sunday is great! The strawberry shortcake Sunday is a big disappointment. I’ll go back and try a few more things.
I’ve only been here when it’s been drive through only for Covid and think it will be better when the walk up window is open again.

I don’t agree with the bad reviews, I liked dairy del! I think it’s one of those places where you have to know the right thing to order though, based off negative reviewers stating the ice cream scoops are not great here. I’d suggest the flurries, or milkshakes! Good bang for your buck, and decent quality. I may be biased though, because I’m a vegan and they actually have multiple options for me. Now, albeit, this place is definitely in a worse off area vs dairy kastle. I got my food and then thought I’d eat at Shelby park, big mistake lol heard gunshots, drove off instantly. Still ate my ice cream though!
This place is nice, I’ll update star review once I try dairy kastle if it’s truly inferior like everyone says. Lines weren’t that bad however, suggest going on a day with rain! I don’t agree with the reviewers stating the workers suck though, they were great and super sweet kids! Next time I’m trying a strawberry milkshake and French fries 🙂

I came here on 07/02/25, I ordered a Chocolate dipped soft serve ice cream cone. Was FIRE . I also ordered 2 Chili Dogs. Everything was carefully put together. The chili dogs were great. Buns were toasted. It was not sloppy or disorganized. Service was very awesome , kind, and friendly. They have an old school vibe spot that plays like 60s and 70s music. It’s definitely a place of Joy. Will be coming back
