A confusing layout with locked doors below a welcome sign didn’t make for the best start. Upon finding the entrance (all the way round the back – there were no signs!) we were met with what can only be described as a surly greeting, not even a cursory ‘Hello’, instead we were told to find a table and come back up when we knew what we wanted. Not having any menus didn’t help with the selection of food. Eventually we settled on 2 x portions of fish and chips, curry sauce and 2 soft drinks, this came to a total of £43.00 – which is excessive.
Pros:
– Both the fish and chips were fresh and well cooked.
– Generous portion sizes.
– The waiter serving the drinks (diet coke) from the downstairs bar was cheerful and pleasant.
Cons:
– The welcome from the staff was atrocious, the same staff member who couldn’t be bothered with a hello also pulled a face when we asked for a receipt.
– £43.00 for 2 portions of fish and chips with soft drinks is excessive.
– Having paid so much for the food, there was no waiter table service and the food had to be collected from a bar service area by the customers once your table number had been called.
Overall, the food is badly let down by the attitude of some of the staff and the price.
Pros:
✅The food was really good, the chicken tasted really fresh
✅Large portion
✅ It was a nice day to eat outside with the views of the mountain
Cons:
❎ While we entered the worker with the tie was serving someone else, he turned to us and shouted from the door “NO PIZZAS ONLY FISH AND CHIPS !” Turned his head and kept serving the other customers
Which is not the right way to welcome clients especially since there were only 3 families in the whole restaurant
When it was our turn we saw the menu with a lot of options, we asked if it was available and he said yes only pizzas we don’t have! Which made no sense shouting only fish and chips we have
Then we asked for a beer and he said no because there was no bartender and he said he was supposed to come at 1pm and it was 1:45pm
If the staff had more manners it would be 5/5 restaurant as it would be perfect , as the food was really good and the location is superb
Waited about ten minutes for our food which was fast. We had to go up to the bar to pick up our pizzas and chips. The pizza was absolutely covered in cheddar cheese as opposed to mozzarella, you could see the fat floating on top! There was hardly any toppings on the highlander, just a sprinkling of haggis and black pudding. It claimed to be traditional wood fired pizza but I’m sure the bases were pre prepped regular pizza bases that were still slightly raw. The chips were McCain as I saw them being prepped. We had a drink each and all this came to £45! Not worth it at all. We didn’t finish our pizzas as I’m sure the main ingredients were carbohydrates.
As we left the cook asked us if everything was okay as we’d left our food, up on telling them there was just a little too much cheese we were offered another pizza each but we declined. A shame really as the area is beautiful, surely if you had a place like that you’d make it as stunning as the surrounding area.
Was told if you chips with your haddock it’s a big portion. Naturally I asked if I could have a smaller portion was told we don’t do smaller portions.
If the staff improve to the level of the food it would have been a much nicer experience.
Picture shows my leftover chips. Bonkers.
He was right. The pizza was amazing!! The fish and chips was tasty and the lasagna was delicious! Be sure and get a take out box for leftovers!
