$3.50 for tacos (excluding the Mahi mahi) and a $1 extra for the shrimp!
They had $4 Mexican beers & $8 house margs & sangrias! The drinks were great and honestly the food was even better.
Personally, I enjoyed the chicken taco but the pork taco was fantastic. They smoke the pork themselves in house! Would definitely love to come back for more.
Food was very flavorful.
No reservations available on Tuesday but they take reservations every other day they’re closed on Sundays but I believe they’re open 11 AM to 9 PM
Both excellent and fresh.
Very glad we tried out Mekenita.
It’s a cute place and nicely decorated. Has a welcoming feel.
Menu has a good selection of the traditional dishes you’d expect, along with some different dishes.
Our food was good and our drinks were delicious.
You don’t get chips n salsa like most Mexican restaurants though!
Price point was reasonable and our server was friendly
Parking lot is very tight though.
We had a good time at Mekenita.
Food: Mekenita Cantina dusts its fresh tortilla chips with a delicious spice mixture. The chicken quesadilla, grande burrito, shrimp burrito, and crab enchiladas were all delicious. The horchata was great and not too sweet. They bring a creative twist to Mexican food and they execute it well.
Service: We went as a party of ten around 8:30pm on a Saturday night, no reservation. The service was kind and attentive and the food was delicious. There was a mix-up at our table with the burritos, but our servers were gracious about making me a new one.
Overall, great experience. If I lived in or near Tampa, I’d be a regular here.
Being used to Tex Mex, the Oaxan flair of the dishes was a treat. Full of flavors.
The place features a modern Mexican American atmosphere. Our margaritas were tasty, and the cold and salsa very fresh and delicious.
Our meals were served hot and in timely manner although the place was slightly busy (or we just got there at the right moment ♂️). Couldn’t finish mine and took the rest home, reheated the next day for a snack and it was STILL perfect
Planning the next time around already
