I went for the ropa vieja, which is tender shredded beef stewed in savory olives and peppers then poured over a bed of yellow rice. It’s absolute magic. Add in those sweet plantains and you’ve got a full-on flavor explosion.

Point and choose hot food bar with plenty of food options. We went with the chicken and congri and the chicken needed a touch more sazón. We may have chosen the wrong items. Drinks were good; we ordered the Mamey and the batido de trigo but the trigo had way too much condensed milk and was definitely a sugar overload.

The lady who took the order was rude and the tamales had almost NO meat, should’ve checked before leaving but a Cuban friend referred me here, super disappointed. Look how these fat tamales have hella masa and like 3 little pieces of meat in them for 3.50$ each this is a joke.

I enjoyed Carlitos’s it felt pretty authentic with taste of the food and the atmosphere they did the tables with colors of Cuba and Cuban flags around to top it off. The food reminded me of Cuban food that was made for me by Cubans so it’s pretty Authentic Cuisine and you have a buffet style presentation you tell the server what you wish to eat and they put together great size portions to eat so come hungry.

Everytime I go I try to get something different to enjoy all of their options. I love Saturday and Sunday for their oxtails, super tender and flavorful. Their cubano is very tasty with the plantain chips too. It’s usually buy one get one, great deal. They offer a variety of desserts, full size cakes as well. They just opened a location on Rainbow and Oakey area so that’s nice. Great food, great customer service, highly recommend.
