Salad was a good size for the price and came with plenty of dressing.
Cauliflower bites were buffalo flavored. Had good flavored but the texture was very soft and wished they had some crunch.
Overall the meal was good and worth the price.
There was no wait when my party of two arrived so, we were sat immediately. However, there was a long wait to order drinks, and then another long wait to recieve them. It appeared that our server may have been overloaded, as she was covering the whole restaurant. If I were in a hurry, I would have been highly annoyed.
After some consideration, I decided on the shrimp and grits, and my wife order from the meat and 2 menu, an order of country fried steak, with collars, and Mac n cheese.
Thankfully, the food came out faster than our drinks, and it looked fantastic. I wasn’t expecting my shrimp and grits to come with toasted brussel sprouts but, there they were. In a ring around my bowl, toasted with a perfect char on them. The grits were creamy, and covered in cheese sauce, tomatoes, bacon, and some really large (over an inch each), fresh shrimp. If I could make one constructive critique, it would be to toss the shrimp in some Old Bay seasoning, or maybe creole spice rub. I only salted the Brussels sprouts to elevate them a bit. Overall, it was a great dish, as I cleaned my bowl, and almost asked for some more.
For dessert, I wanted to order the Blueberry Cheesecake unfortunately, they were out of that, and I had to order the homemade banana pudding. (Oh, darn!) It’s came served in a miniature mason jar, topped with a generous amount of whipped cream, dusted with nilla wafer dust, and it was fantastic. So good, that I forgot all about them being out of the cheesecake I wanted.
I look forward to a future visit, and if you have not been, you should consider it. ❤️
Brunch, however, left a lot to be desired. It isn’t disclosed on the menu that some of the brunch menu items have powdered sugar sprinkled on top of them. Specifically, the griddle sandwich that I had.
Getting past the overwhelming sweetness of the powdered sugar sprinkled on top, it was quite bland! The crispy fries on the side weren’t perverted by the sugar, thankfully, and they were quite delicious. I highly recommend them on the lunch/dinner menu.
My friend had the chicken and waffles, which is their fried chicken tenders stacked atop a mound of sweet potato waffle fries. Unfortunately, the cooks also thought that offering a side of maple syrup wouldn’t have made the dish quite sweet enough, so they also put a metric ton of powdered sugar on top of it as well. This, however, was disclosed in the menu beforehand. It ruins the flavor of the chicken, which is another prominent feature of the lunch/dinner menu, when it’s served normally, and without powdered sugar dumped on top.
Service was great as usual, and the place looks fantastic still. As it stands, I do not recommend this place for Sunday brunch, but I will always recommend it as one of the best dinners you can have downtown for a decent price.
Let’s get back to the food! Ahhhhh yea the food…. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I love to travel and dine so I have officially made this one of my spots! I had the shrimp and grits and they have a creative spin to it. It was so much that I could not finish it but you better believe I wanted to! Whoever thought the blend of grits, shrimp, Brussels sprouts and bacon would be a hit!! The others at my table enjoyed their meals just as much as I did. I highly recommend this place.
