The food here is delicious and reasonably priced, especially for the area. Simple and limited menu, but quality is good. However, every single time I’ve gone here, the way the staff try to passively-aggressively coerce you to leave is unbearable and completely ruins an otherwise enjoyable atmosphere. As soon as food hits your table, the staff are circling to clear items and ask if you want to box anything up to go. It is understandable that it’s a busy restaurant that often gets lines out the door during peak times and so they want to turn over tables as quickly as possible. However, it would be much more preferable for them to clearly advertise or directly inform you there’s a time limit, for example, on keeping a table during peak hours. Instead, they circle and ask so many times if they can clear items or box anything up that it ruins any chance of enjoying a nice lunch with good food and good company on a nice patio. It has gotten to the point where you spend the entire meal looking over your shoulder to keep an eye on empty tables around you and the line to order and whether that means you’ll soon be politely (sarcastically) asked if you’d like them to box up your chips and salsa so you can go. Chips and salsa to go! Unfortunately, this is an establishment that depends on the quality of its food and convenient location to make up for its poor hospitality. And maybe I’m just too old and grouchy to remember when not coercing your customers out if they deign to not vacate their table while still finishing the food they purchased was a normal thing! But hey, I admit I’m still a repeat customer.

The place was pretty busy on a Saturday night but we were still able to get a table. This is an order at the counter and sit down type of place. The woman at the counter was friendly and helped us decide what to get. The food was great! We got enchiladas and the fried chicken taco which was simple but amazing. The beef red sauce was so flavorful. I also ordered a side salad with thousand island dressing which was good but the dressing left a garlic taste in my mouth after. We still overall enjoyed our meal and would return.

Service is wonderful, they check on you highly often to make sure everything is good. Food was done before we even finished getting drinks. Pricing isn’t bad. I got the shrimp chowder, it was really good, along with a fish and chicken taco. If you’re planning or thinking of going, GO!

Taqueria deal Sol is definitely a local favorite. It is always delicious. The place runs like a well oiled machine, and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
There is nothing on this menu that I do not like. I also have the cookbook, and make the fresh salsa all the time for parties. People love it!
Their fish tacos have to be the best fish tacos I have ever had. I always compare other places to them. I like to add slaw to my fish tacos. It is so good!
The chili and cream sauce are amazing! And everyone loves the chowder.
The skinny margarita is the best. It is not a diet margarita, but rather one made with all pure ingredients. So it is just tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Make sure to get your hatch chilis during the season. They are the best!

This was my 1st time there. My daughter frequents this establishment and insisted that I try it! Be sure to check the times before going. They are open for lunch and then close at 3 until 5 for dinner. There was a wait. My daughter says there’s always a wait. It didn’t seem like a long wait. It went quicker than I thought! And we were able to get drinks from the bar while we waited. I liked the process of going in to order and pay right then. Then you find a table and they bring the food to you shortly after. The margarita was so good! The food was pretty good. I’ve never had tacos like these. They were delightful. I look forward to going back to try some other items on the menu.

We have been going to del Sol for years. My in-laws absolutely love this spot. The menu is simple and straightforward. And the preparation is excellent. They are very consistent in their quality and flavor. It is not an authentic Mexican restaurant but they do their style well. The flavors are made more for an American palate. However, the quality of ingredients and cooking is consistently excellent. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and you better come early because there’s always a line out the door. A wait around not having to wait in line is to go sit at the bar because you don’t need to wait in line to sit at the bar. However, during covid we have not wanted to do that but plenty of people still do it. It is a very kid-friendly spot where they can run around a little bit especially in the outside seating area. The only issue I have is that they put jalapenos in everything! :-). You can pick them out of most dishes, but still, even flavor wise they should not put it in everything. Everything does not need to taste like jalapenos. Just have it on the side if people want to add to it everything they can. But many others want a variety in flavor

As I was driving to the restaurant, I thought I would have to find some available street parking. When I approached, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had their own parking lot with ample spaces. This was my first time visiting this location. My friend and I stood on the line and it moved quickly. The person at the register asked how many were in my party. This was to organize the seating, but they still kept the bills separate. I placed my order for 2 tacos, one Hot Chicken Taco, which was one of the specials, and one Fish Taco. I also ordered a side of Jalapeno Cole Slaw. My friend and I walked around trying to figure out where we wanted to sit. They have seating everywhere, plenty to choose from. We were initially going to sit in the patio area, but then decided to sit at the high counter near the front door. This area was getting some good direct sunlight. Our food came out super fast. I tasted the Hot Chicken Taco first. It was very good and had a nice spicy kick to it. The Fish Taco was very crispy and good as well. I will definitely go back to try some of their other choices.

A good place to meet friends and family for dinner in Decatur. Sitting outside has a really nice atmosphere and is great during the summer. The line to order can take a long time so be prepared to wait. I recommend the enchiladas and Carnitas tacos.

Taqueria Del Sol is a nice little restaurant that has a different kind of set up. You get in line, order tour meal and drinks then find a table. The servers find you. How they find you, I don’t know but they find you.

I really don’t want to leave a perfect review because this is our favorite neighborhood spot and we don’t want it to be more popular than it already is! Going there always fills our hearts. Food is good and comes fast. Menu is streamlined. Service is not fussy. They know what good food is and what makes people happy.
