Stopped in for a bite of lunch while on the road. Downtown Plantersville is cute and quaint and this Cajun cafe was an excellent find. I was immediately welcomed to the cafeteria style service, explained how their system worked, ingredients were described well, and cost was reasonable. I had a popular creamy shrimp dish that was unlike anything else I had ever tasted. The corn and pepper dish was also tasty and unique. You get your own drinks and choose a seat, so it’s casual. For those of you traveling, get off I65 and go the extra couple of miles to support this local gem!

Some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced! A wide selection of regional inspired dishes, each with their unique flavor. One of the great things is that they let you sample things you’re not familiar with. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the area!

My husband and I ate here for lunch and was not disappointed! This was my first time eating there and they offered some samples to try first. The service was amazing as well as the food. We ate out on the patio and it was very nice.

Incredible restaurant with rich, fresh? homemade flavors and worth every penny! Of course you can ask to sample anything, but they have sampler plate options in case you can’t decide! Trust me, the portions are plenty since the food is so rich!

Not pictured here is the Bourbon Bread Pudding – whoooweee! Not only was it delicious, but boozy, too!!

Owners and kids are wonderful, laid back, and kind. The space transports you – like you’re visiting your artsy Uncle Mick down at his quirky home on the bayou. Love love love! Please support this business so they never have to leave!!!!

Non-locals: YES, it is totally worth the detour off the 65!

I visited here for the first time, after seeing an advertisement from on the side of the interstate. Restaurant was super clean and staff was eager and ready to answer questions, even about allergies. All food was fresh and hot. Food was delicious. I had sausage and chicken gumbo and a delicious caramel cake which disappointingly they ran out of when we were ready to order seconds. The front seating area is rather small and by the door which can kinda be distracting but other than that, good trip. I would recommend.

I’ve been here twice now and I’m still thinking about the next time I get to go back. The shrimp a la crème is my absolute favorite with the creole really close to it. Service was great. Love how you’re able to try samples. Such a unique set up that makes it a whole experience.

Met some travelers there who were super friendly. They were driving through from Birmingham and had heard about it. It’s a good ways off 65, but they were very happy with their order, as was I.

Well, well, well, every once in a while I have the pleasure of discovering a real GEM. Uncle Mick’s Cajun Market & Cafe is, without a doubt, one of the best and most charming restaurants I have ever been too. The food is just perfect in every way and the Mickey and Lacey were incredibly friendly and helpful and made it feel like home.

It is a very rare occasion that you find perfect food, staff and atmosphere all at once – – this is the place. I have written 100s of restaurant reviews from all over the USA and Canada and this restaurant is my new #1. Yes, it’s that good !!

Uncle Mick’s Cajun Market & Cafe gets my 10/10 and the highest recommendation possible.
