McMenamins is the best, and Blue Moon is no exception. The interior and atmosphere are stunning, the food tastes great, and their beers and seltzers are spot on. Highly recommended!

The Blue Moon is a fun place. The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed the food that they ordered.
They have a couple of pool tables and two shuffle board tables that were busy the entire time we were there.
They have a way cool old fashion wood burning stove that one can get warmed up plus, a fireplace with seating all around it.
We will definitely be back there again!

Run away, the service was ok. The food was horribily cold. Fries came out cold and the $21 burger had no flavor, I think the chef was sleeping and forgot order up. The only thing good about the place are the pool tables and the beer. Cheers.

I enjoyed this McMenamin’s a lot. We had to kill time before going to a film at Cinema 21. I ordered a couple of prickly pear Margaritas and they were great! The service at the bar was prompt and friendly. I love the decor and the atmosphere. I would visit again.

One of the many places that I’m thankful that McMenamins has acquired for preservation of our old school Portland culture! Cozy spot with great service, music, and hot toddys!
And just when I thought this place couldn’t get any cooler, I discovered that they have jazz music playing in the restroom!!

While riding TriMet’s #15 bus to McMenamins Tavern & Pool, I decided to look up the address for McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern & Grill. After reading that the Blue Moon stayed open until midnight, I changed my plans, and rerouted to the Blue Moon instead of my “regular” choice of the Tavern & Pool, which closes at [23:00]. I got off the bus at NW Burnside & NW King, and then walked the 0.2 miles to McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern & Grill.
Out of courtesy, I went over to the bar, and asked a woman behind the bar if she had a preference for where I sat in the booths on the west side of the Blue Moon. She shook her head, and said no, she had no preference. What she tell me, was that the area that I asked about no longer had “active table service,” and the only “customer option” was “Bar Service.” (Thanks a lot, you apathetic, non-customer-service-oriented woman. I will immortalize you through my review for this establishment. I hope your employer reads about your unhelpful non-service. Hopefully, they will care more about Public Relations than you, who obviously couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anyone who politely interrupts your “official paper shuffling at the end of the night.”)
“Anyhoo…” Fortunately, there was another server who actually cared about helping out his customers, and he informed me that the area that I was intending on sitting in, was “closed down for the night,” but there were plenty of seating choices over by the pool tables and bar.
After mistaking my cleaning my cellphone’s screen for OCD cleaning of the tabletop, this same individual then came over to the booth that I had chosen, to ask if it needed to be wiped down. I showed Gabriel (I learned his name when I went over to give him five dollars “for giving a crap about me”) that I was not wiping down the table, but merely cleaning my cellphone’s screen. Gabriel nodded his understanding, and reminded me that “Bar Service was available.” I thanked him, and let him know that I was going to go order something from the bar.
“All things considered,” and ignoring the apathetic female server’s attitude, I enjoyed my visit to McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern & Grill on this Thursday, the 19th of February, 2026.

we had an awesome time here. we walked in and we loved the dark wood and the fireplace and the games. sat in a booth and drank some dark beer and hot cocktails and listened to 80s soft rock. it was a nice spot to chill during the rain.

Stopped by for an early dinner after a busy workday. Understanding that McMenamins’ strength isn’t its cuisine or service, but the decor and ambiance, it was a good experience. The space gives Bavarian hominess. There are nooks to have a cozy conversation or for playing cards. I don’t recall my meal being overwhelmingly expensive nor do I remember it much at all, which speaks it being a pretty standard burger. I would come back if I was in the area.

Food was delicious yet a bit pricey. Our waitress took forever to get to us and even said “you’re probably tired of being ignored.” However that continued. We were done eating for at least 10 minutes before we got to pay our check. However I don’t want to judge the entire place on one person.

I know what you’re thinking: There are like 10 McMenamin locations in Portland. And you’re right. But each one is really cool and there is a reason they’re the only brewer that’s growing rather than disappearing like so many taprooms in Portland. This is a really cool place with pool tables and tabletop shuffleboard. And they’ve renovated so many cool buildings: theaters, hotels, taverns, etc that it’s worth visitinf at least a couple.
