Today, our family enjoyed a delicious meal at Jimmy’s. We feasted on a variety of options, including juicy burgers cooked to order, classic hot dogs, and flavorful catfish fillets. The catfish was particularly light and flavorful, and we enjoyed it alongside a side of crispy fries. To top it off, we couldn’t resist the irresistible banana pudding – a true highlight of the meal. Jimmy’s is a Durham institution, and it consistently delivers on quality food. We highly recommend it!

A locals only American standards joint. An “all peoples” establishment on both sides of the counter.
The Texas Toast patty melt is head and shoulders over Whataburger. Ask for it “the way they make it “…the best.
Don’t be surprised if you end up sitting between a person with an oxygen tank and a family with babies. If you are fortunate enough to eat here, you are in our neighborhood, be neighborly.
There’s sports memorabilia all over the walls, don’t hesitate to take it in.
There’s handicap parking, but it’s tight for a chair.
Home made pies and banana pudding at the register!

Although the food is somewhat cheaper than competitors, the taste is quite underwhelming. The burger has an odd sweet/ashy flavor, not sure if it’s coming from the bun or the meat, but I couldn’t finish it. The hot dog was an odd orange color that put me off after the first bite. The only thing I kind of enjoyed was the onion rings and the corn dog. The overall atmosphere of the establishment was exactly what you’d expect, older, kind of dirty and dingy. The workers were very nice, but I shouldn’t see a worker rubbing her mouth/nose with her hand and then proceeding to use that same hand to touch the bread that is toasting on the cooktop.

If you love a good hotdog such as myself… this is the place for you to try. The line was long but that’s expected at a restaurant with tasty food. The workers did get everyone through the line in a timely manner. The hotdog was good and juicy with a soft bun nothing to fancy. The chilli on it made it standout from any other hotdog I ever had! The chicken wings was perfect size, fresh, crispy, and seasoning was not over powering. The dining area is on the small size and have a old fashion look to it but it was clean. Food was great, nice staff, and clean dining area. I would recommend this place you will not be disappointed.

Seems like the quality is not what it used to be. Their hot dogs used to be awesome. The inside smells just like the bathrooms. Needs a deep cleaning. You should not smell the bathrooms in the dining room.

Guys, omg!!!! I’m in love. This was my family and I first time going here. I looked at the menu before leaving the house and wrote the order down. My husband placed the order and the young lady at the counter was kind enough to help. You can tell this is one of those “we treat our customers like family” places because they greeted a regular by his name and asked if he wanted his usual.

The entire place is so down-home wholesome!
Going to Jimmy’s afterward to celebrate my first City Council speech urging funds for mental health was the condition I gave my veteran sweetheart . I’ll give the speech; you buy the choc.malt & the hotdogs after!
Jimmy’s inaugurated a wonderful romance ….not only with choc.malts

We ordered and ate in the car as we had our dog along on a trip. We hit up old school eats in many cities. This hotdog was made by a man who has been cooking them for over 25 years. The all the way dogs and onion ring and fish sandwich were excellent. The catfish and it’s batter was the finest I have eaten anywhere– and I do mean anywhere. That is a comeback again place. People were talking, joking and that was the vibe of the place. We even got a plain dog for our dog!! She wanted a second one!! Thanks for a terrific meal.

Stopped into this little spot on the way out of Durham. We got the catfish dinner with fried okra and Jimmy dog “all the way”. The counter person was super helpful walking us through the menu. The fish was amazing as was the okra. They have malt vinegar for the fish which was a nice option. The dogs had chili, cheese, slaw and mustard – yummo! And the homemade desserts were a nice touch (wish I would have gotten a banana pudding for the road.)
