I went with my mom and sister to see a show at the Florida Theater and we stopped in Casa Dora last minute. The gentleman who runs the place ( I wish I had gotten his name) was so welcoming and kind! We made great conversation while we waited for our food. The atmosphere in the place was wonderful, it was so cozy and welcoming. The food was also absolutely to die for! We got pizza and cheesecake to go and holy cow! I have no words for how good the food was! Im so glad we happened to stop in and I highly recommend that you take a trip to Casa Dora!

We had the most wonderful experience at this little authentic, family-owned Italian restaurant. We arrived with a large group close to closing (which we felt terrible about!), and instead of making us feel rushed or unwelcome, they greeted us with such warmth and genuine hospitality.

The service was truly five-star — attentive, kind, and accommodating from start to finish. You could feel the pride and care they put into everything they do. Despite the late hour, the kitchen prepared a fresh, absolutely delicious meal for all of us. Every dish tasted homemade and full of authentic Italian flavor — comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with love.

It’s rare to find a place where the service is just as exceptional as the food, but this restaurant delivered both effortlessly. We are so grateful for the way they welcomed our group and turned what could have been an inconvenience into such a memorable evening.

We’ll absolutely be back — and next time, we promise to come earlier

Walked in at 1;20pm before our show started next door and saw that no one attended us. So, we walked to seat ourselves, and saw all of the tables in the back were filled with dirty dishes. Bathroom gross. I believe the owner was in and was quite snippy with the few customers being attended. Never coming back and will suggest all others to get a quick bite before the show elsewhere. This place should close up .

My wife & I went to see Vienna candlelight orchestra last night at the Florida Theater and afterwards ventured into this nice family style Italian restaurant. We didn’t check google and didn’t realize they were closing, but the gentleman in the front(owners/cousin) was kind enough to let us order a pizza as they had enough dough for 1. We got the Margarita White! They also have the red version but we wanted to try a different style of this pizza. And let me tell you it’s delicious!!!The best pizza I’ve had outside of NYC. The owner (Sam) came by and we told him we got everything to go since they’re closing and he said not to worry and that he would bring the pizza in a box but to stay and eat. So we did and a few minutes later walks in a lady asking for a slice but since they had closed there was only a pepperoni slice on the display and she’s vegetarian. She was walking out and I invited her to sit and eat with us since our pizza was vegetarian. I then recognized it was the star of the Vienna show we had just been at next door. She politely refused and explained that she had not been able to eat dinner before the show and the tour bus would soon be leaving to their next show in TN. So even more I politely insisted and she sat with us and ate as we heard stories about her career and then Sam came over and sat with us and we told stories about our lives. We ended up getting 2 deserts and when I say Wow!! cheesecake & a raspberry dulce de leche were off the charts. I mean this place is the real “when you’re here your family” cause your not gonna get the corporate friendly greeting, but you will get some of the best homemade tasting Italian food & deserts in Jax. Nothing fancy, just deliciousness!!We can’t wait to go back and bring the rest of our family to enjoy!

Authentic food had the chicken tortellini Alfredo it was delicious. Freddie suggested the Tutto Mio as I like sweet wine, very much enjoyed it. If Jacksonville was closer I would definitely eat here often.

Highly recommend! We are staying at Hyatt and walked over for dinner on a Thursday evening. This restaurant had the most amazing atmosphere with the quaint dining area and soft playing music. The lasagna was the best I ever had. The desserts were fresh and delicious. We will most likely eat there again before going back to Texas.

I had the loveliest experience here with my brother after catching a show at the Florida Theatre! The staff was extremely nice and helped us make food choices. The atmosphere was very authentic and “mom and pop” which I loved.

Other than the service, the food was the absolute best part of our visit 🙂 We had the chicken florentine, meatballs, and meat pie! They were all delicious and homemade— I’ll definitely be back with friends.

This is one of those little hole in the wall places that just feels right when you walk in. I was in town for a conference. My first visit I had a pizza which was really good. The second time I walked in, the owner greeted me and I told him to fix me whatever he recommended. He prepared me a carbonara that’s wasn’t on the menu. It’s was extraordinary. If I ever make it back to Jacksonville this will be my go-to spot.

This was the most enjoyable meal-no, culinary experiece- I’ve had in ages, maybe ever. Food is fresh & authentic and Freddie is an absolute gem. Whatever he says is the special, just get it, you wont be disappointed. The tiramasu is decadent. Can’t wait to show off Casa Dora next time someone asks “what’s good around here?”

Add this place to your *must visit* restaurant list!! We were welcomed so warmly upon entering- you go to a counter where the food is displayed. The chef(I think also the owner) took time to describe every option in detail *and with pride*. It is all fresh made in house- no frozen stuff. You go sit down and they deliver food to the table after it’s cooked/warmed.
I had spinach Lasagna 10/10
The walls are covered with autographs and pictures of visitors whom I think were mostly performers at the Florida Theatre next door coming over after their show. Super charming throughout.

The girl at the front/also our waitress was very excited to tell us she made three different cheesecakes and all were gone except one slice. It was brownie cheesecake and she wanted us to have it. No charge.
She was not around when we left and I didn’t get to tell her it was FANTASTIC! Make sure you ask if she has any when you visit!

I eat late so I was not expecting it to be busy but there was only one family there when we arrived. I hope this review results in them having a line out the door!
