We went on a cold Friday in February. We were only one of two tables so it did feel quiet. Had the set menu one 2 courses the other 3. Starters were good, soup and the octopus. The main is where it was less good. Artichokes that were very inconsistent cooked- one fine, others crunchy and under cooked. The sauce was good though. I had ordered extra potatoes to go with it but they never arrived, I would of asked but despite it being empty waitress seemed to disappear. She never seemed to notice my wife leaving half her veg when she picked up plate. I ordered dessert and it was ok but felt like an odd combo. Overall it was ok. Not expensive but still spent close to £100. Place looked tired and felt like service suited it being so quiet. I wanted to like it more , there was promise, but make sure consistency of cooking and get order right. We were not charged for the potatoes and I never mentioned them cos I didnt want them after eating rest of meal.

We had a lovely 3 course lunch here and would definitely come back! So handy to see clearly labelled veggie / vegan / gluten free / dairy free options, everyone can eat here! The vegan food options I had were really yummy (sometimes the vegan options at other restaurants seem like an afterthought, but not here!), amazing flavour combos! There was a wee mistake with our bill at the end, but this was quickly rectified. We were sat at a table with a view of the water as requested and this was awesome. Amazing value and very lovely staff, would definitely recommend.

A good and unique restaurant in Inverness. It was a unique place to visit and it was a pity that we were the only one there that Monday night. Service was very good and the food was good. The turkey dinner may look small but it was full of flavour. The tart was good but was too much rich for me.

Not a bad place to try out at £45 for 3 courses. The only problem is that you have other restaurants offering 3 courses for £30.

We came here because it was close to our air bnb and boy did we luck out. I was nervous because it looked empty but actually they have 3 floors. We ended up sitting on the 3rd with an amazing view of the castle and river. The building was probably built to highlight this because it was awesome.

The food was top notch as well. My favorite was the pea and ham soup which was amazing with delicious Smokey flavors.

We really appreciate how good the food is and how friendly the staff are. The dishes are beautifully displayed and extremely delicious. We told the waiter to express our gratitude to the chef as well. I definitely recommend this all restaurant and hope their rating will increase soon and let more people to know them. We three goer 3 courses menu. We love each one of them.

Great food! We had the octopus, pork belly, traditional muscles, Parmesan fries and beef tartare. Everything was amazing, my favorite was the octopus and my husbands favorite was the pork belly. Service was really good and friendly. Highly recommend.

The Kitchen offers a two or three course prix menu for 40 or 45 pounds. There are a lot of choices for each course, the staff and service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant has a beautiful view. I had the pork belly, lamb, and steamed pudding and I thought all dishes were great. I would definitely recommend The Kitchen for an affordable dinner in Inverness.

The Kitchen, Inverness – A Gem of Scottish Cuisine with a Modern Twist

Tucked away in Inverness, The Kitchen is a tiny restaurant that truly delivers on every front. While we were unable to secure a spot upstairs to enjoy the famed views, the experience was nothing short of fabulous.

The food? Absolutely stupendous. It was the kind of Scottish fare you dream of—rich in tradition but with a subtle, modern twist. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the dishes were executed perfectly. Each bite was a testament to the quality of the local produce, from the robust flavors of the mains to the delicate nuances of the sides. Truly delicious.

The drinks were equally fantastic, and the staff’s recommendations were spot-on. But the true highlight was the service. Despite the restaurant being packed and seemingly managed by just three waitstaff, we never felt neglected. In fact, it was one of the best dining service experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were efficient, attentive, and always present when needed, even with a full house. It’s remarkable how they maintained such a high level of service under pressure.

If you find yourself in Inverness, make sure to book a table at The Kitchen. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable meal with fantastic service in the Highlands.

Highly, highly recommended!

We had a very nice meal here. I liked the fixed menu format with good choice within each choice. The menu was imaginative with high quality ingredients. We had the beef cheek, the cod, and a vegetarian pie as mains. All were very tasty. The cheese board dessert offered a (deliciously mature) wash rind and a blue cheese along with a milder hard cheese. My only disappointment was the chicken croquette which I felt was nothing special.

We are from Belgium and we are on holiday in Inverness for a week. We have had a few good experiences in other restaurants. But this place is absolutely amazing!

The food is excellent. The atmosphere and the river view are amazing. And the staff are super friendly and make sure that you get the best experience.

This place is definitely a must-visit. It’s a shame our holiday is almost over. We would have visited a second time.
