Service out server was awesome. When we had a couple issues she was quick take care of us.
Atmosphere, indoor was pretty chilly but nice. Patio, when the sun started to go down, we got attacked by flies and they had no fans or anything to help avoid that.
Food, in general, the food was good. However. The tomahawk pork chop and aged steak, both were extremely dry and overcooked. Our server did offer send it back and redo/replace them however, everybody knows what happens when you send food back. We opted to use A1 sauce to get through it. I mean, none of the states of the three that we had came out seasoned at all.
What truly elevated our evening was our server, CT. He’s easily one of the best servers I’ve encountered at any restaurant. From the moment we sat down, CT demonstrated the kind of attentiveness that’s rare to find – he anticipated our needs without being intrusive, made excellent recommendations that were spot-on for our tastes, and ensured our drinks were never empty.
What set CT apart was his warm, inviting presence. He didn’t just take our order and deliver food; he enhanced the entire experience with his genuine hospitality and engaging personality. He made both my daughter and me feel welcomed and valued as guests, which is something you can’t teach – it’s just who he is as a person.
The combination of delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and CT’s exceptional and world-class service made this dinner one we’ll remember.
We got the ranch rings (onion rings) to start. They were very good – see attached picture to see what style they are.
We each got the roasted garlic sirloin as our entrees with mashed potatoes as the side. Both steaks were cooked to our desired doneness and were delicious. They had a great seasoning and crust and seemed to be a high quality piece of meat. The mashed potatoes were awesome too – a big serving well seasoned and perfectly buttery.
Our server was great too.
The patio furniture is made of an extremely serious, heavy wrought iron—difficult & noisy to move, which is a testament to its quality, I think. The food was mostly really good and I’ll tell you why the mostly:
My ‘hipster toast’ was topped with a perfectly runny poached eggy. Tragically, the overabundance of arugula mounted on top of that poor bread was way overdressed, just gooping with a creamy cilantro dressing that would otherwise have been quite enjoyable.
The Bloody Mary cocktail special was fine, by which I mean irrefutably average and exactly as one ever would have expected. Garnished with a crunchy, leafless celery stalk and mixed with not too terribly much horseradish, as is sometimes elsewhere the case.
We will return again at dinnertime on another day to try what my expertly Boomer Mom insists is the very best grilled salmon dish in the metropolitan Triangle area. Altogether a completely delightful meal.
We then waited about another hour for our main course, and not one person came to apologize for our wait even though several servers walked by and saw us awkwardly waiting. Eventually the food arrived. The steak dish was so tough, it was barely chewable – medium was the request. The other dish, a pasta/chicken dish had about six pieces of chicken with pasta dominating the entire dish. The third dish was “ok”.
Having spent $130, I have to say this wasn’t a pleasant experience at all – very dissapointing, and I don’t think we’ll be back to this location.
Ordered my steak medium rare and definitely came out medium well. Two in our party got the ribs and both described them more like beef jerky. They were very dry and overcooked.
We had two servers assigned to our group and thought that would make everything go smooth but we ended up never getting bread, until we asked for it once our food arrived, one end of the table whose order was taken by one server got their salads with the appetizers, the other end of the table didn’t get their salads until their food came out. Then dessert, which only two people ordered, took forever to come out. Both just got the brownie sundae so shouldn’t have taken too long to put together. Kept looking around to ask our servers what the delay was, but didn’t see them until the desserts finally came out.
We love Firebirds so we’ll definitely return, just not to this location.
