Mofongo Cafe is an absolute gem! The food is phenomenal and packed with flavor. The menu is loaded with so many great options, there’s truly something for everyone. You can even order from the back, which makes it super convenient.

The customer service was outstanding — everyone was very helpful, welcoming, and attentive. The atmosphere is great too: good music, a cute setup, and an all-around good vibe.

Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Definitely coming back!

Mofongo Cafe was the last stop for our Nashville trip, and let me say we ended off with a BANG!!

Speaking as someone who has friends from the Caribbean we knew it was going to be a spot for us to judge and what it brought was a place that felt like home.

The food, the people, the space was so heartwarming. We were a party of 10 at 11:30AM and they did no hesitate in moving a table for us to all enjoy together.

For the amount of food, flavour, and love crafted within the meal, the trip and price is worth it!

Thank you Mofongo Café for a delighting experience!

we came about 20 minutes to close, and got the mofongo and mangu.
both were very dry and flavorless. plantains were incredibly dry and stale, and did not taste sweet at all. i wanted to like this place because as someone coming from miami, i was so excited to see a caribbean spot. however, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of food. i would’ve preferred they told us it wasn’t going to be great because its the end of the day rather than allowing us to spend $60 on food that is simply not good.

This is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville. It’s so good: my go to is the chicken empanadas and vanilla flan. I love everything about this place. This is definitely where the locals eat and it’s a hidden gem. They are generous with their portions and the food is like magic in my mouth.

So wanted to eat Puertorican food (of course, my roots) and found this place. Decided to take a drive to check them out…. First thing I noticed, food out in trays, second, asked for the menu, I noticed no Puertorican food whatsoever! I even told the guy, nothing on the menu is Puertorican food, he smiled and that was that.

I ordered Biftec Encebollado, Arroz Blanco, Habichuelas, Ensalada de Coditos, and Maduros. I must say, the food was good but that piece of steak, well you can see how thin it was.

The only thing from PR was the Malta India! You can witness in the picture, side of the bottle.

For dessert, had a piece of Flan de Queso, and it was on the pasty heavy side if you know what I mean… flan is supposed to be smooth fast cut. Maybe the cheese, who know. I jabbed at it (pic) and that was it.

For not being food from my cultural background, the food was good.

This place “looks Puertorican” because of their decoration, pictures, etc, and definitely not (not even close) when it comes to the food!

A place promoting and/or that serves Puertorican food is not cool!

This is not a Valdi approved joint!

Excellent food! I visited here for the first time last Saturday as I found it online randomly and thought I’d try it out. I had a “mofongo”, which is a cake of mashed plantains with garlic and pork, and my topping was shrimp with coconut sauce. It was very tasty and I hope to return to try out more menu items.

We found this place from a Facebook video and had to try it. We live 3 hrs away, and we’re in town only for a day. We’re so glad we came. The service was great. We ordered enough food for 3-4 people even though there’s only two of us knowing we were sampling and taking the leftovers home to enjoy later. My husband raved about the goat. Next time we’re in town, we’ll be stopping by for some good eating.

Mofongo Café is an absolute gem that brings authentic Caribbean flavors to Nashville with warmth and excellence. I stopped in for lunch and left thoroughly impressed.

The oxtails were the star of my meal – perfectly tender, richly seasoned, and falling off the bone. It was a pleasant surprise to find them on the menu, and they exceeded every expectation. The depth of flavor showed real care in the preparation, with that slow-cooked goodness that makes oxtails such a beloved comfort food.

I went with the rice & bean platter, which proved to be outstanding value for the price. The portion was generous, the flavors were spot-on, and everything was prepared with obvious attention to quality. While I was initially hoping to find pernil on the menu, this turned out to be a complete non-issue once I tasted what they had to offer.

The food speaks for itself here – authentic, flavorful, and satisfying. Mofongo Café has earned a spot on my regular rotation. If you’re craving Caribbean cuisine in Nashville, this is where you need to be. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Highly recommended – don’t miss this place!

2nd visit:
Food was good. More gristle than goat on my goat special but I guess that is par for the course when eating goat. Rest of food was great.

Visited Mofongo Cafe on a lazy Sunday night. Greeted promptly and was told how the ordering process works as it was our first visit. Pre-made serving buffet with rice and various meats and salads. Or you order from the menu and it’s prepared for you. Decided on some mofungo, which we chose one with garlic shrimp and one with chicken. The chicken was great and flavorful. The shrimp was good. The mofungo had larger chunks of plantains and was not very mashed. The sauce was a must to moisten the mofungo, which was still good, but i was expecting more of a mashed potatoes consistency that I had a couple of times while traveling in DR. At any rate, the beef and chicken empanadas were delicious, and the meal overall was enjoyable. I will try again.
