We had such a great experience at The Backyard Smokehouse in Edmonton. Everything from the service to the food was just spot on.
The manager, Syed, was super welcoming and clearly takes pride in the place. Our waitress, Raidah, was amazing. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed.
Now the food. Honestly, the best brisket we’ve ever had. Perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with flavor. And it’s all halal, which made it even better for us.
The portions are unreal. We ordered the Three Yard Platter and it came out loaded. Way more food than we expected. We ate until we were full and still had enough left to take home. Nothing felt skimpy at all, and every item on the platter was delicious.
Great atmosphere, amazing service, and food that actually lives up to the hype. This place is 100% worth it and we’ll definitely be coming back.

Our first visit to this amazing restaurant was beyond expectations. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. We arrived late at 10 PM, close to their 11 PM closing time, but the staff was incredibly patient and didn’t rush us at all. The food was delicious and 100% Halal, and the place was spotless. The manager was very humble and personally checked on us. They host all kinds of events like weddings, birthdays, and kids’ parties. Highly recommended for their exceptional service and great atmosphere!”

The food is incredible! We got the Three Yard Platter, everything’s tasty, their portioning is generous, which is great cause you truly get your money’s worth. Syed (I think he’s the manager) listens attentively to every customer’s requests and provides excellent customer service!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! Was in Edmonton for a little and came here based on a friend’s recommendation. MJ I think who’s in charge that day. Her service was OUTSTANDING! She’s a STAR! We had 2 people with allergies and she’s so knowledgeable about every ingredient in every dish and made sure that nothing to worry with our order. Her recommendations were perfect. While having dinner she invited us to try their ramadan buffet the next day and I must say no regrets. All 10/10. Will be returning next time I’m in town for sure!

First visit review: This coming from a family of chef’s. Who have great pallets. Went for lunch on Jan 7th, 2026, around 2:30 p.m. It was a bit of a wait before the food came. It was not busy only 1 other table with maybe 5 people. Apps came with the dinner. Usually, I get that before. However, Emily was our waitress. She was fantastic! The food was decent, with lots of meat on my brisket poutine. My brother had the brisket plate; he said it was good. My dad had the steak; they were out of the main steak, so he had to get another. It was very fatty. It was also quite small for the price of $42.00. It came with veggies and sweet potato fries. My poutine was $18.00. I can’t remember the Caesar salad price or the buffalo wings, which were fantastic; it was Wing Wednesday! I wish they were just a bit more sauced, still flavourful though. The salad sadly was not very good either. No lemon or proper caesar dressing. Was also lacking the proper toppings. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was bad… extremely bland and not good. It sucks because I love a good coleslaw very much. It was a lunch for 3; my dad tipped big because Emily was very attentive and professional on the ball. She deserved it! I think our total was $160.00, so prepare ahead of time money-wise before going out. We won’t be returning. Sorry guys! Thanks for reading!

We travelled almost 6 hours to get to Edmonton and decided to try the buffet at The Backyard Smokehouse — and it was absolutely worth it. The food was fresh, flavorful, and you could really taste the quality in every dish.
A special mention to Mr. Syed for the excellent service. He was very welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had a great dining experience.
When someone travels that far and leaves satisfied, that says a lot. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Edmonton.

Very first time here, coming from a small town — and honestly, I was impressed. First of all, it’s Halal, which already puts it at the top for me. The food is amazing! From the beef back ribs to the chicken and brisket, everything was cooked to perfection. The starters were great as well, and the prices are reasonable.
The only thing that threw me off was my server — they weren’t very attentive or helpful. Apart from that, the experience was amazing. Highly recommend!

A friend and I went here for lunch recently.
When we entered the lady behind the counter didnt look our way or greet us. It was a little weird as the entire restaurant was empty and she just keep stareing down at whatever she was looking at. Eventually some other lady came out to the front and showed us to a table.
Why do you have a greeter if they dont greet your guests? Why are we standing around feeling awkward?
The entire resturaunt was empty and they sat us next to the only other occupied table.
I realize this helps the server but id rather have some personal space, especially as I dont want to hear other peoples conversations. Dont be lazy and do this if you are a server. I’ve never worked in resturaunts but even I know this.
We ordered wings and the platter not realizing how much food came with the platter, shouldn’t have gotten the wings. The platter meal called the 3 yard is designed for 2-3 people and was $100, so yeah it was a significant amount of food.
For some reason they sent all the food at once, this is just a serious pet peeve of mine. Wings are an appetizer, dont overlap it with mains, let people sit and talk and eat.
Even the main order should have been staggered. The fries we got with it just went cold and untouched because everything came at once.
The food was good but the service was poor.
Management should educate the front and back of house staff better.
Why are wings, a ceaser salad and bread all coming out at the same time as fries, chicken legs, sliders and brisket??
You cant enjoy the meal as food is just going cold. Also its gross to have my chicken wing bones on my plate as I try to eat my main. Clear those away and dont send everything at once.
Unacceptable really just a waste of money.
$140 poorly spent because staff are incompetent.

We came all the way from Calgary, and our close friends highly recommended this restaurant. The food was amazing,I especially loved the short rib, cornbread, and the blueberry pineapple lemonade. The owner personally greeted us and took time for a small chat, he’s truly a kind and welcoming person. Overall, our experience was fantastic! We will definitely be back the next time we visit Edmonton.
