When I say this is the best bbq place in southwest Colorado I mean it! Everything was well portioned and reasonably priced! But the food is the real star here! Fantastic. Don’t walk there RUN!!

We were craving for brisket so we felt we were in the right place after our first bite. Brisket was soft, juicy properly smoked. Staff was nice.

The food has always been good but the portion size even for the small should be criminal. The small side of Mac and cheese for my kid was literally two bites. She ate it in less than 5 seconds. The large size… Is actually on the small side for everywhere else as well. I absolutely cannot believe how skimpy they have gotten here.

My padre and I came up to escape the Texas heat and enjoy the mountains. Stopped by thinking it sounds good. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwhich with a mac and cheese side. My padre got the nachos. They were out of pinto beans so gave him extra pork. And we both ordered a peach cobbler. The ladies working the front are wonderful and polite, but the food was awful. See picture of brisket, and really zoom in. The fat caps were thick, unrendered and the entire thing was pink with no visible smoke ring and no bark to speak of a real grey color. When you call yourself Texas BBQ the bare minimum is a good brisket. To me it looked WAY under done. I swapped it out for the pulled pork thinking its hard to mess that up. Wrong again! Dry as all get out and even some was cooked so much it was hard. Ive never seen anyone do that to a pork butt in a smoker. Mac and cheese was basic, just cheese and noodles. Nachos were decent. And the peach cobbler had alot of mushy crust and very little peach. The sweet tea was good tho. This place should be ashamed to call themselves Texas BBQ.

A Must-Stop for BBQ Lovers in Durango!

Serious Texas BBQ in North Durango truly lives up to its name! From the moment we walked in, the aroma of smoked meats was absolutely mouthwatering.

The beef brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor — definitely one of the best I’ve had.

We loved the laid-back, rustic vibe and the friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The sides were just as impressive.

Portions were generous, prices were fair, and everything tasted fresh off the smoker.

If you’re in Durango and craving authentic BBQ, this spot is a no-brainer. We’ll definitely be back every time we’re in town!

Food is great! Ordering is a bit different but works. I never have had the type of bbq sauce they serve , but it was amazing! Don’t forget to grab some pickle slices!!

My FAVORITE place to eat. The beef is phenomenal, beans are fabulous, pickles are crazy good, but my favorite are the potatoes. Oh my, my!! Fortunately, I live down the street from BBQ north and can walk to it anytime I want.
The people that work there are extremely friendly and nice. I HIGHLY recommend.

I’m from Stephenville, Texas and Serious Texas BBQ hit the spot! I got the sampler and my wife got the brisket tater. The pulled pork and sausage was the real winner for me, but everything was great! The queso on the tater was some of the best queso we have had in a while! Great service and great food! Would recommend to fellow Texans!

After living in Colorado for almost 10 years, this is the best barbecue I have found. I grew up in Texas where barbecue is a thing, and this is some of the best I’ve ever had. Had. Would highly recommend stopping here if you’re in Durango. Staff is super friendly. The food is amazing!

Who can pass up a place with this name, seriously! The place was busy. We tried the ribs, beef brisket, and the Elgin, Texas Sausage. The brisket was too dry, and the sausage was not spicy. The ribs were the best thing we tried. We also tried the pecan pie, peach cobbler, and lemon buttermilk, which were good. We were also given the wrong sides. We do like to try places we haven’t been to before when vacationing.
