Kan Lamat (Vans & Villains)
You HAVE to try the Queso Paneer Tikka Masala!!! Get it with naan and rice. They make the paneer fresh right here in the restaurant and it shows. In fact, having to tried to cook my own masala and curries here in Costa Rica, I am in all openness blown away by how amazing this tasted! Also, big shout out for the comfortable seating area with its arrangements, the serving dishes even, and making it feel separate from the surrounding mall. You add to that the great service here and you can guarantee I’ll be coming back!

Good Indian restaurant in Oxigeno mall. The setting and ambience is exuberant with view of the open space in the front. The service was excellent. Appetizer was really good. Drinks were good as well. The main course was salty. Prices were high (much more than for similar Indian food and ambience in the US). The dessert was average as well.

What an amazing food!! Better than several Michelin stars in US – this place is a gem. The authenticity of flavors is maintained and spice levels can be adjusted for my kids too.
Food, presentation, drinks – every single item from starters to main course was spectacular. And service specifically Ravi and Kapil went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

If you’re searching for the best Indian food in San José, Costa Rica, look no further than Taj Mahal. This place is hands-down the top Indian restaurant in Costa Rica. The flavors are deep, authentic, and perfectly balanced exactly what you hope for when craving real Indian cuisine. The butter chicken is rich and creamy, the curries are layered with spice (not just heat), and the naan is fresh, soft, and perfectly cooked. You can immediately tell the ingredients are high quality and the food is made with care and tradition. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it great for both a casual meal or a special night out. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Indian food or trying it for the first time, Taj Mahal in San José delivers an exceptional dining experience and consistently stands out as the best Indian restaurant in San José, Costa Rica. Highly recommended this is a must-visit spot.

We had the chicken tikka trio as appetizer, the paneer, palak paneer, the saag paneer, the butter chicken, and the rara gosht, and they were all excellent. Great cuisine, great service, and the lassi unsweetened was amazing. And the cauliflower rice made us very happy!

My family and I came here for a change from the usual rice and beans. Unfortunately, I regretted that decision. My salad wasn’t good because of the dressing, and the Chana Masala with cauliflower rice was a bit too salty. The falafels were very good—soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Overall, I felt the meal was just okay, and I eat Indian food all the time.
Having an okay meal is one thing, but the sticker shock from this restaurant was unreal. We paid almost $300 for four people—and we don’t even eat meat. I would never recommend this place. This restaurant taught us a big lesson: always check the prices. I never expected those kinds of prices from a restaurant in a mall.

My picture doesn’t do the dish justice. The best Indian food in the area. Very flavorful and very authentic food. The size looks small but I was full afterwards. I can’t wait to try something else next time!
