Presented by Chai Pani Restaurant Group, Botiwalla is Chef Meherwan Irani’s homage to the lively Irani Cafes of India – tea and kabab houses run by Parsis who immigrated to India in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With a strange and wonderful mash-up of Victorian decor and Indian sensibilities, Irani Cafes catered to the English colonialists’ love of high tea and afternoon snacks. The other inspiration behind the menu of Botiwalla is the late-night street food scene of India. His mission with Botiwalla is to bring the streets of India to life — the glowing charcoal sigris, the sizzling meats, the aromas of chaat masala*, and the crispy, crunchy, multi-textured street snacks — in the most delicious way possible.
Brightly colored, counter-serve spot serving grilled Indian street food at a food hall.

We ordered:
-Masala Smashed Potatoes – Delicious, soft inside with crisp skin, and seasoned perfectly.
-Paneer Tikka Roll – Great flavor, the paneer was soft, the vegetables were grilled well, the wrap was light, and everything came together beautifully.
-Chicken Tikka Roll – Flavorful, juicy chicken grilled to perfection.
The food is freshly grilled and made to order.
The ambience is great, and the service was quick.
Portions are filling, and the prices are very reasonable.
The Lamb Seekh Kebab Roll was also delicious — juicy and flavorful. I only wish it had a few more pieces of lamb considering the thickness of the bread, but still very good for the price.
The SPDP was spot on — loved the mix of mint and tamarind flavors, blended to perfection. The tea with Parle-G was the perfect finish.
Food quality and quantity are both top-notch, and the staff is very attentive and courteous. Getting a seat can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but it’s absolutely worth the wait!
My favorite dish, though, was the Maharaja Lamb Burger. Genuinely so delicious, and the lamb was so tender. Service and ambiance were also fantastic – the people were so kind and prompt, and the decor was close to how hotels in India decorate themselves.
While my niece was visiting we stopped by Ponce City Market. When she saw that we had a Botiwalla she was immediately sold on eating here! I am so glad she suggested this spot! Home for her is Charlotte, NC and she mentioned they have a location there!
How it works?
You order your food at the entrance of the restaurant! Warning- they often have a line – yes it’s that good !! After placing your order you are either given a number to place on your table if dining in, or just verbally given a number to wait on your to go order.
I have been here at least 4 times within the last 2 months! The Crispy Masala Fish Roll is what keeps me coming back! The description from the website is as follows: Crispy wild caught Alaskan cod seasoned with cumin, lime, chilli powder, ginger, garlic. Wrapped in hot buttered naan with Desi slaw, onion, cilantro, green chutney & Maggi ketchup. (fish, milk, eggs, sesame, wheat)!! It always leaves me wanting more !
I have also tired the chai tea and cookies – I appreciate that the taste is light on both the tea and cookies. Other items I have tried are the Masala Smashed Potatoes and the veggie skewer. There is also another potato appetizer that I can’t recall the name of. Everything I have tried has been a love for me !
In addition to great tasting food, the service has always been good ! This place is just a vibe and I highly recommend checking it out !
