Mondo’s is by far our favorite spot! If we lived closer we’d be there every week. This past weekend we drove out there with our 18 month and had the best time! Food was delicious, service was great, and the overall environment was super comfortable and positive. Appetizers are the best around and our meals were excellent too. My 18 month old had a meatball and French fries, my husband had the chicken cutlet panini, and I had the fresh mozzarella panini with egg plant fries. Best meal I’ve had in a long time!

Slice Mob rolled into Mondo Middletown like we hadn’t eaten in a week. Fifteen deep. Loud. Hungry. Ready to do damage.

I went straight for the Mondo special, thin crust, crisp, and built right. First bite told the story. The undercarriage had structure, the edge had crunch, and the toppings stayed in balance instead of sliding into chaos. Onion, peppers, sauce, pepperoni, sausage, bacon… all playing their role, nobody trying to be the star, and that’s exactly why it worked.

This wasn’t a greasy overload pie. It was composed. Clean flavors. Sauce present but not drowning the dough. Cheese doing its job without turning the slice into a blanket.

Around the table, it turned into a full-on pizza parade.
• Barbecue chicken made the rounds. Sweet and Smokey
• Tomato basil, simple, bright, the kind of pie you underestimate until it disappears
• Sicilian, thicker, airy, satisfying, the “one slice turns into three” situation
• Ozzy Egg, the wildcard. Rich, different, and the pie people kept talking about between bites

I didn’t personally get into every pie, but you could read the table. Heads nodding. Silence during bites. That “hold on, let me finish chewing” look. Universal pizza language for “yeah… this is legit.”

Keith came out and greeted us and jumped in for a photo like he’d known us for years. That stuff isn’t staged. You can tell when it’s genuine, and this was.

The staff stayed on it the whole time. Drinks refilled, pies landing hot, check-ins without hovering. Friendly, attentive, and clearly used to handling a busy dining room without letting it feel chaotic.

What stood out most was consistency. Nothing felt like a throwaway option. Whether thin crust, Sicilian, or specialty, the kitchen knew what it was doing.

And the vibe matched the food. Casual. Welcoming. Built for groups. Built for exactly what we did, show up with friends, order too much, and stay longer than planned.

Slice Mob left full and happy!

Slice Mob Approved!!

This was stop #4 on our pizza crawl and we four were all very impressed. Really nice restaurant with a fun atmosphere, super friendly and attentive staff. And the cheese pizza really hit from the first bite! Excellent sauce, just the right amount of cheese and a nice chewy crust without overdoing the char. The sausage and mushroom pie was good with spicy salty bits and fresh mushrooms to savor. But we agreed the cheese pie won the night. Highly recommend a visit. Ours was just wonderful.

Very nice atmosphere; Doesn’t look busy from outside, got surprised when we walked inside. It’s like I arrived somewhere in Brooklyn Pizza Restaurant. Host and waitress was very hospitable. Food came on time and order was accurate.

Well, folks, I’ve been to quite a few pizza joints across Connecticut and beyond, and let me tell you—Mondo lands smack dab in the middle of the pack. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad pizza. It’s good, even. But it’s the kind of good that doesn’t exactly stick in your memory.

Eating there gave me flashbacks to the old Roman Delight spots that used to be up in malls—familiar, safe, and satisfying enough when you’re hungry, but not the kind of pie that makes you rethink your favorites list. The dough had some chew, the sauce leaned standard, and the toppings were fine, but nothing really hollered out “this is the one.”

After working my way through so many places, you start to notice who’s swinging for the fences and who’s just bunting for base hits. Mondo plays it safe, and for a lot of folks, that’ll be just right. For me? I’ll say it’s middle of the road—solid enough if you’re in town, but not a destination if you’re chasing the best of the best.

Stopped by for lunch to give their pizza a try. They serve thin-crust brick oven-style pizza. I ordered a large white vegetarian pizza and an Allagash white beer. The pizza was delicious, and the cold beer was refreshing. The atmosphere and service were also great.

When I saw that they had vegan cheese as an option, I knew we had to go here.
The pizza was absolutely amazing and so was the vegan cheese. This is an absolute must have especially if you love thin crispy crust. The hubby absolutely loved his buffalo wings. If we lived in Connecticut, we would absolutely come here again. And our server was outstanding.

I liked the cheese pizza, I ordered a small cheese, I don’t get slices if if I have to pay more and not finish the pizza because unfresh heated up slices are terrible and don’t give the pizza the credit it deserves. The pizza was very tasty but Napolitano does not have the crisp I like. This pizza is worth a try though. Nothing special about the sauce but still very good. Not too greasy, not much to criticize except the crisp, but that’s Napolitano. I’ll go again, probably with friends, it’s more a group place to go, everyone there seemed to be having a good time for lunch on a Monday.

Mondo is one of the few new haven style pizza places still doing a true large pizza. Most other places call it artisan pies where a large is 16 inch and a small is 12 inch. But you pay the same and often more. Sadly, even Sally’s Apizza does that are their new locations.
Mondo makes a solid quality new haven style pie. The crust is thin, light, and crunchy. And at a decent price, which is worth a 5 stars by itself. Thank you Mondo!
