Ordered the Manti for an entree and it was so good. Have never had anything like this before and really enjoyed. My girl ordered Islam Sarmasi and enjoyed as well and the portion size was enough for her to bring half home. We also got the Kazandibi for dessert and it was straight fire, so good.

Visited Cafe Istanbul and tried a pretty wide range of dishes mashed potatoes, lahmacun, the seafood mixed grill, chef’s mixed grill, and kuzu şiş. Overall, the food was genuinely good. Everything came out flavorful, seasoned, and cooked nicely. The seafood and kuzu şiş especially stood out.

The only downside was one specific order I requested well done. It came out medium three different times, even after sending it back twice. Eventually, I had to cancel that item altogether, which was disappointing considering how good the rest of the meal was.

Great food, nice menu just wish the kitchen paid a bit more attention to specific cooking requests.

This place absolutely delivers. The service was warm and attentive, the food was outstanding, and the dessert alone is worth the visit.

Do not skip the Pear Delight. I’m serious. It’s one of those desserts you think about afterward and immediately want again. Order it, thank me later.

The meat was seasoned perfectly.. deep, rich flavor, not just salt-forward.. and somehow tasted just as incredible the next day. Leftovers rarely improve; these did.

If you know what’s good for you, just go here. Simple as that.

Our co worker friend took us here with his family. His wife is Turkish and recommended this spot. Everything was absolutely amazing!!! My favorite was the crepes which were perfectly paired with the jellies that came with everything else. I would come back again and again. The brunch deal is definitely the way to go to have meze for everyone to share. Can’t wait to come back someday!

We came here with a friend. He used to come here before some years ago so he recommended. Overall the food experience was so awful. We ordered appetizers first : sogurme (eggplant, garlic yoghurt) and liver. Eggplant was ok. But the liver we sent it back. Liver itself was bitter taste. Not spicy not because of paprika. The meat itself was bitter and bad taste. I even cannot eat 1 small piece of it. I tried to explain the server when I see it in the receipt that they didn’t take it off from the receipt. So the server was a bit annoyed and telling me he didn’t need to know details. But yes the details ate important that the liver was so bad that I had to split it. Then for the main dishes we had cag kebab and İskender. In cag kebab the lamb was undercooked and so thick cut. Authentic cag kebab has to be thinner slices. The lamb was not at all well marinated. İskender was not good either. The meat tasted odd. Even my friend who is not Turkish he told that İskender was not good. He didn’t finish it. Overall our other server – Ezgi was super nice and she listened our feedback nicely but she had nothing to do. The other guy maybe server maybe manager was not nice at all. Looking annoyed when I was trying to give my feedback. Overall, sorry but I cannot recommend this place to any one. Try to find somewhere else. We paid a lot that we even didn’t eat and we were still hungry after this.

Café Istanbul is one of those spots I somehow return to every few months without even thinking about it & every time, the food reminds me why. It’s just fire.

i got the Chef’s Mixed Grill with a lentil soup, & both were perfect. juicy, well-seasoned, & cooked like the chef was aiming for a medal. the lentil soup hit exactly how it should warm, smooth, comforting.

my sister ordered the kuzu şiş well done. it came out medium. Sent it back… came out medium-well. At that point the lamb said “this is the best I can do today.”

But as someone who always eats here, I know the quality is legit. Great menu, great flavors, and you really can’t go wrong with anything you order.

The soup and lahmacun were acceptable, but the main dishes were not. The Iskender was burned, extremely salty, and the sauce was so harsh it actually burned my throat. The mixed plate was also overly salty and excessively spiced to the point of being inedible. We each took one or two bites and could not continue. The staff did offer replacements, but after receiving two failed main dishes, we had no confidence that ordering again would fix the problem. At that point, continuing the meal felt pointless. What made the situation worse was being charged the full amount with no adjustment or apology. Paying $103 for food that was largely untouched and inedible is unacceptable. This was supposed to be a special New Year’s dinner in a city we traveled to celebrate in. Instead, it was a ruined evening due to poor food quality and lack of basic customer care.

The place is overpriced and the food is below average and worst part is the waiter was so mean to my friend because he was not sure on what to order. Easily this could be one of the worst kebabs which I’ve had in Chicago. Desert was okay. Very bad experience!! Please avoid it

I’ve been here several times now and I’m never disappointed. The meat is high quality and tender and all of the other appetizers are full of flavor.
They have so many great Turkish dishes but I recommend the çag Kebab and the lamachun

I was surprised by how heavy the soup was at this restaurant, it is quite a large space and a handful of exotic items on the menu. parking is very limited. I’m not an expert in the cuisine, although I have been to Istanbul a few times, but from what I could tell everything seemed fresh!
